Were you using tactile signing to your blind and deaf son?
Another stupid thing that hearing people would do or say is, " I know sign language", and then show the sign of the middle finger.....

You didn't get the joke. She doesn't have a blind/deaf son, she has a deaf son, Jillio was asked a stupid question, so Jillio gave a stupid answer back. Get it?
Um....blind people can live independently. I've seen it done.
Yes or bad words in signs. It's like they're only interesting in learning to signs so that they know all the bad words.

You're welcome.Cheri.
They could live by themselves but I dont think for the duration they would remain live indenpendently. They would need someone to come and check them to make sure blind people are allright. Blind people still need to have someone to drive them to do errands. The point is that it is dumb for hearing people to say that they prefer to be blind than being deaf. They dont understand that blindness have far more restriction than deaf people.
I am sure you would prefer to be blind and have CI than being deaf? Lmao.
The only reason they would perfer to be blind than to be deaf is for social reason. It is easier for blind to socialize than for a deaf. They are able to keep up with conversation therefore that is why alot would perfer to be blind than to be deaf. Of course in other areas, it would be easier to be deaf than blind.
So using pen and paper is daunting task? Hearing people can work with deaf people but it is attitude that preventing both to work together.
You have deaf culture, deaf events, deaf gathering, etc...
Blind? I only know there is blind association but I dont think they have coffee nights, happy hour at bar, etc.. I believe blind people dont have their own culture, or am i wrong?

They don't need a culture because they are able to mingle with heaing and join in their conversation without any problems. We have that problem if there are group of people have a conversation. That is why we have a culture so that we could have conversation with others without having to work hard at keeping up like we would with hearing people..
Blinds don't have that problem.
In a group of people like that, pen and paper won't do it.
Here's another one:
Deaf professor and I standing in hallway of university talking about St. Rita School for the Deaf, and how it benefitted my son. Hearing student taking sign class standing nearby, eavesdropping on our conversation. She walks over and signs, "Your son is deaf?"
My reply: "No, I just sent him there for the cultural experience." Deaf professor:
Why do hearies think it is okay to interrupt private conversations with stupid questions?
