Actually now that I think about it, I have created a hybrid! This is a synonym and a homonym joke at the same time! Wow! How did I do that? Once you get the synonym then you'll get the homonym of it. Wow! I fascinate me!

Yep, it was too much of a stretch for me, as I was envisioning signs for "cost" and "girl" and kept getting stuck on "material girl" and "pricey woman." Ha ha ha.

Good one, Reba. "Between the devil and the deep blue sea" was what I came up with, too.

Yeah, that one threw me too. A girl with a price? I kept coming up with concepts "kept woman" or "working girl" or "woman of the evening" but those weren't titles of movies except maybe "Pretty Woman", "Lili Marlene" or "Sweet Charity." I knew that wasn't right. :lol:

I should warn you that my receptive ASL skills are better than my expressive ones (and I'm left-handed, so I'm trying to reverse this all in my mind,) but hopefully this works.

Right hand goes from a 5 hand to a 0 hand in front of the right shoulder, moving back a little. Then right index finger in 1 handshape "walks" along the left arm from the shoulder to the wrist.

Nope ... the 1 handshape is kind of sticking up from the arm, oops! I'm not very good at explaining this, but if I keep fixing my explanation, maybe someone will understand.

You are doing fine! The whole purpose of this game is to improve needed communication skills for every one, Hearing and Deaf and HOH.

Is this a picture of a person advancing or improving in something? Try to post the English meaning without using any of the words for the actual idiom.

The English meaning is to put yourself in a dangerous or risky position, usually to help someone or yourself.
 
I'm trying to think of a better way to sign the idiom.

You could also do the same first sign, then have your left forearm vertical with a 5-hand, with your right hand in a 1-hand "walking" along the thumb, away from the palm.
