No, I honestly asked a question with a theory. I have no clue if you if you went to college and experienced seeing people drinking crazy or if you simply went straight to work after high school.

What makes them think they won't get caught?....

The fact that if they didn't think they were going to get caught, they would drink openly?

Once these children are taught to drink some sips, they sneak behind their parents' backs to get more than just a sip.

THAT is called hyperbole. You're exaggerating. You cannot expect anyone, young or old, to simply get hooked on alcohol after the first taste. They wouldn't go sneaking around if it was legal!

Do you study history? Do you know that drinking at a young age was actually encouraged in many societies? That drinking wine or other fermented beverages was better than drinking deadly, poisonous, bacteria polluted water? It is only recently that we have been trying to take it away from people and prevent them from drinking because society is scared that people will die.

Dennis quoted THAT is called hyperbole. You're exaggerating. You cannot expect anyone, young or old, to simply get hooked on alcohol after the first taste. They wouldn't go sneaking around if it was legal!
Dennis you got me overboard when you accused me of exaggerating my story! I was at the party and I saw what was happening with my own eyes. YOU WERE NOT THERE AT THE PARTY GEEZ!!! I am NOT exaggerating because these children did sneak behind their parents' backs. From now on NEVER accuse me of exaggerating or lying ever again!!!!!

Nobody is so perfect....

Any kid can order beer via Internet with their credit cards.

Any kid can brew their own homemade beer. That reminds me of Apeman. How is your brewing liquid from the toilet?

I am sure that you drank beer at underage. I bet you dont admit....

It is better to let parents monitering their kids with beer and share the wisdom to ensure that they can not drink too much.

My family's blood run thicker.

Off-Topic, Yeah, I used to hunt with rifle when I was almost 12 years old.

I let the 18 years old kids to hand their own matters. What's big deal if they use any drugs instead of having beer at bar during the socializing hours.

I do not dispute that your story happened, since as you say, I was not there. I'm fully willing to concede it happened.

You are exaggerating when you take your one experience and say EVERY KID who tries alcohol WILL sneak around and try to drink. I had a drink of beer when I was 13. I did not decide from that point on to go sneaking around and drink beer. I didn't like the taste of beer. So my experience directly refutes your statement that every kid will do what you say they will do.

I'm in full agreement with mld4ds. Kids need to be supervised with their drinking, not simply keep it away from them until they're older and then having to figure it out later.

Hummm..... Some members here thinks it's okay to have youngster learn the taste of alcohol beverage, I guess the same goes for drugs too right? So if there any dangerous involving with your kids in the nearest future, Don't come crying here about it, Because, that's your own problem for letting them curious the first place. Yep, I'm being blunt because you guys don't even think the real issue is putting the kids on the spot of getting hurt. What a crazy world with crazy people living in it. :ugh:

i started to drink having party at 14 or 15 when it says 21, shh :aw:
if either of my girls sneak to do that i will undy but will talk/discuss with them :fingersx:

Yeah me too, I used to drink when I was only 17, got drunk at a party once when I went down to Chicago to visit a friend from the navy, and I end up drinking alot because I was the only deaf there, and I was soo shy so I drank and drank just to join the fun and be able to talk to them without feeling embarrassed, well I end up in bed with a stranger, that I have no clue who he is, but when I asked the mother of the son that we went to visit for, she told me I stripped my clothes off in front of whole bunch of guys that were from the Navy....Oh my God, I couldn't believe I would do this to myself, but after that happened I never got drunk again....I feel soo shame of myself for doing something that I know I could never done that....I also found out the guy in my bed, he passed out, so nothing really happened Thanks Heaven!!!

Even my parents has taught us so many times about drinking and drugs, I never did listen, so what makes anyone thinks that those kids out there would really listen to their parents?....I wish I had, because none of this would happened, I could have been raped or even killed who knows :dunno:.....I'm just glad my friends and the mother of the guy who we visit from the Navy were there, and they were the one stop it before it had gone too far....

Like I said, drinking can control your body and your mind, you won't even remember half of the things that happened, so it's better not to drink, otherwise anything could happen....So why take the risk?...

I remember the time I drank so heavy when I went out with a friend of mine at the age of 21 to a local bar, I had several bud light, mixed drinks, shots, Jell-O shots. I didn't even remember getting home with a friend of mine, I woke up the next morning feeling so sick, dizzy spells, vomiting, headaches, thirsty I had no clothes on just an underwear. I panic and screamed, My friend came in the room she told me that I passed out at the local bar on the dance floor, I vomit in her car, in her house. She had to undress me, I couldn't stop vomiting she said.

The day I had to work that morning, I didn't have strength to work, I felt so weak, my face was burning up, My boss send me home early, While I was driving I was getting some dizzy spells, I pulled in the next emergency room and checked myself in, The doctor came to me and told me I had alcohol poison, They had to pumped my stomach because I had so much alcohol in my system. The doctor told me if I haven't came in, There's a chance that I could have die. That scare the shitless out of me.

But, It didn't stop me from drinking, Once I got hooked up on it, I kept drinking, I went out every weekdays after work, drank myself to death, drove home reckless, my car was parked in the middle of the grass at my parents house, I walked in the house started screaming and cussing, My dad and step-mom was so worried that they thought I might be on drugs. My dad fought with me about my drinking, Did I care? Nah, It made me drink more, I went to another local bar dance and drank so much, that I passed out and I woke up ending up in the emergency room again, This time my life was slipping away, My dad came in and gave me a real hard slap in the face, He said so much that made me realized that I am putting myself in dangerous of being an alcoholic, He said I'm throwing my life away by drinking, Which he is correct I am. I realize while sitting in the hospital that I want to live, I want a life I don't want to be this way anymore. I change big time I became a new person, got my life together brought myself an beauitful apartment working full time job all morning to all night just to avoid going to bars, and It works!

I am glad I am done with this, my kids went thru the phase and they made it alive and well. It is part of life. Ur are not going to stop your kids from doing them. Sorry about that, no matter how hard or trying ur stop them from sneaking, they will do it anyway. Good luck.

My kids will not be on it because I had already talked to my older son about the dangerous of using alcohol and drugs. My son knows because he sees his own dad drinks and he doesn't like it one bit. He hates drinkers. Matter of fact I'm glad he does because he can say no to alcohol and drugs. He even told me if I ever found someone in my life make sure this guy doesn't drink, Guess what? Diehardbiker doesn't drink. I stay the hell away from men who drink and do drugs. I don't need that in my life or around my children. ;)

Hey, I am sorry to say this. I am right behind Cheri all the way! I care about her too much and I do NOT want her to drink! Nobody in my house is allowed to drink, except over 21. I don't drink, almost not at all! Why I hate drinking? The simple answer is...

Alcohol and Narcotics brings NOTHING but TROUBLE!

I live on principle of 12 steps, and traditions. This means I don't control the world! I just learn to live with them and be happy what I have. Tomorrow, who knows what happen? Maybe the earth exploded, and why worry about that? Yesterday, it is HISTORY and do you have time machine to turn back the clock and fix your mistake? You know the answer to both questions. And that leaves today! So, you only got today to live, make the best of today. Do not ignore the past because the past can be valuable lesson for you to look and think before your gonna make the same mistake and expecting different result, in other word INSANITY.

I have the passion in respect the action and consequences behind the action. If you do something wrong, expect the negative consequences. If one of my kids gets in trouble with law, I will NOT bail them out UNLESS they can prove me they are innocent.

You can argue with me and Cheri all you want, yet our experiences shows us loud and clear!

New York State New law!

Hey, some of you who may reside in New York State and have your own children under 18 years old. You may want to think twice about serving them alcoholic beverage. If you get busted doing that, you will have to expect jail time and huge fine! The law just passed and became effective not sure this year or next year. The reason is that often when parents offered kids drink, then their kids bragged that their parent's cool! It is sending kids wrong message! This has to STOP!

I am so against children drinking alcoholic beverages even if it is just some small sips. When children have a taste of an alcoholic beverage and watch their parents drink wine or beer everyday then they get to learn to drink more and more.

You made an exaggerating post here.

Look at me, I've tried to taste few of German spirits last December. Do I learn to drink more and more after have some sips? Excuse me, I laugh.

Of course we drink alochol every weekends... glass of wine and beer but we are not drunk... Yes my children look at us. This is part of European culture, we know our limit when we drink.

No matter either children (not babies to toddler) and adult but they still have some sips to taste! I see nothing wrong to let the children or adult to experiement their curiously. I would prefer to let them to experiment their curiously than let them try something from wrong crowd.

The children will hide more from their parents and then go to wrong crowd to try something then end to kill them if the parents won't let them to try... Let the children try is more safer than try from wrong crowd... It would end to kill children alot thru wrong crowd because of their curiously.

I would prefer to have my children learn something from us that's why we allow them to experiment their curiously. I teach them how to do right or wrong... Of course I also allow my children to watch the information about drugs, alochol, cigarettes etc. on TV because it's good education for the children to learn.

Same as Ohio Law, no serving alcohol to minors, if they get catch, they'll be fined and jail time. I'm happy with that law. ;)

Like Cheri said before Dennis, Parents don't watch their kids 24/7 so therefore, they CAN go behind their parent's back and drink by getting drunk....It a fact and yes it can happen....

Yes because the parents can't talk or let their child experiment their curiously that's why they hide from their parents.

Offering them these sips or dope won't help at all, and have the potential negative impact on them.

If your smart enough, talk open and be straightforward about danger of these stuff. Trust me, kids will LISTEN to you even though they might seem not.

The War on Some Drugs (remember, not all drugs are illegal. Cigarettes contain nicotine and are legal. Alcohol is a drug and is legal. Many dangerous drugs are dispensed legally over the counter) is a con game played by the U.S. Only "some dangerous drugs" are fought against. The whole War on Drugs ads are to scare you into thinking it's worse than it really is.

It's just as effective as Prohibition was against alcohol. The price of drugs went up, forcing people to rob other people so they can pay to get their drugs. There's also no standards on those drugs, so you can get bad drugs and you can't do anything about it except die.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arguments_for_and_against_drug_prohibition

I don't want anyone to die or become sick because of drugs or alcohol. Please believe me, I hate drugs and alcohol and smoking as much as everyone else here. The only thing different about me is that I believe that sending everyone who do those things to jail will not solve the problem, and in fact causes more problems. I bet many of you think it'll solve those problems because you haven't really been to jail.

Well, drugs or cigarettes are more dangerous than alcohol... I taught my children to not use drugs and cigarettes because they are dangerous... It affect health and addictive. Yes, my children tried smoke out of curiously at 2 years ago and don't like it because they told us themselves. Why they tried it out of curiously because my hubby won't let them to try some of smoke sips, that's why they went to their mates and tried it. My children are happy that my hubby gave up smoking last April 2004. They learned that smoking is bad health thru TV, bodyworld muesum... saw black lung, cancer etc. They also know drugs are dangerous thru TV, school, us and my drug addict sister...

Of course I teach my children to not abuse alcohol but respect.

Anyway, here in Germany, drugs are illegal. :)

The drug stores are not allow to sell drugs/medical underaged children without parental supersivon.
The DVD/video/computer games stores are not allow to sell DVD/video stores with restricted age 16 and 18 to underaged children without parental supersivon.
The tattoo and piercing stores are not allow to offer underage children without parental supersivon.
The stores are not allow to sell cigarettes, alcohol and firewerk etc to underaged children without parental supersivon.

Interesting, nobody here worry about cigarettes, drugs, Gun age legal, driving age legal but alcohol. *scratch my head*. It look like that all are okay except alochol... :Ohno:

Don't you know that cigarettes and drugs kill people more than alochol?
Don't you know there're teenagers killed by gun accidents?
Don't you know there're high teenagers killed by car accidents?

I would not want to let my teenagers to drive because I know drinking would be including... I would drive my children & their friends to club and then pick them up again after club over because it's safe than let them drive alone to any club etc.

I'm for driving age legal at 18, not 15 or 16 years old. :Ohno:
I'm for restricted gun legal for duty civil at age 18..., not 12 years old :Ohno:
