California has executed handicapped people before and they'll do it again.

I voted yes. Anyone that commits murder that is not found to be mentally unstable should face the same justice. I would ask those that voted no to explain why someone that is deaf should be exempt from justice after commiting such a hanious crime as murder.

^^ True, the majority of people know fully well what's 'right from wrong'.... ;)

(btw, did you mean: heinous? ;) it's ok, a simple typo--)

You voted "yes" for a different standard? I think you misread the poll question.

If Deaf wish to be treated equally, then they should expect equal punishment for their crimes. Deafness is not a bargaining chip to cop out of your due punishment.

Umm hon, the question of the poll asked " Should There Be a Different Standard for the Disabled? "....

:ugh3:

Sorry the poll question differs from the title of the thread. Define disabled

Right but I put disabled means Deaf, HOH, HC, etc...I'm not taking about illness or metal illness...

And this is related to a case about a Deaf person...

Now back to what the poll and this thread is concerned with....every certain situation can't be measured all the same, each case and situation of such facts, evidence would be entirely be different from one person to another, therefore, it's possible that having a certain different standard in which each individual can be evaluated, based on all facts, evidence...afterall, to have a certain different standard based on the inability to comprehend certain functions appropriately wouldn't be deemed nonexistent in today's society....a change just might be in order....however, I could go with either way, to vote 'no' or 'yes', as this type of topic/subject is pretty deep and there's soo much ground to cover regarding this issue.

So....my vote is: 'nuetral'

Gotcha... it's what I originally thought and my response is the same. The term handicapped is one that many deafies would take offense to. Handicapped can also include mental illness so it might be tough to lump all of those into the same catagory..

You need edit your poll...

It's supposed to said "Should There Be a Different Standard for the Disabled?" into "Should There Be a Different Standard for deaf people" then would give a less confused.

I voted yes because disabled can be included with mental illness and retard mental.

Deaf people aren't considered to be true disabled.

I believe in karma "What goes around comes around" as in a justice "eye for eye"

Have you read it first before you made your vote? Don't twisted it around, she already posted the story and the poll was related to the story. ;)

Eh? Why say "yes"?

When she asked if there should be a different standard, she was asking if deaf people should be treated differently in regards to the death penalty. That means, should we look at them lightly or pitiful?

I voted 'no' because deaf, hearing, or handicapped... doesn't matter.

No! It's because some of them are innocent that they did not commit a crime. It is the one that police overstep the wrong path because they abuse people, and they think that they are capable to be in the power. The police just tell the judge that these people broke the law. Most police are waived what they did was wrong.

No, all deaf people should not get death except hearing people. Oops, did I say that? :ugh3:
