The entire idea of taking away an obese, morbidly obese child is absurd. Like someone asked before, where's the limit, what's the age, who regulates that? Someone would be getting paid to go hunt overweight children instead of going after more things, like human trafficking and pedophiles. Please! Too much time on peoples hands!
Currently, well at least in NYC there are people that go to pediatric clinics to spread information about eating well. Give out information, get interactive with the children. Not all clinics but some. Some parents make mistakes by wrong food choices, but usually because they are completely clueless. Some just don't have the means, because its crazy that healthy food is more expensive. Also, some parents are not there and the kids are parenting themselves. I wouldn't wish foster kid on any child.
It's a horrible place. I've heard first hand stories about it from an old associate. He was starved until he was ninety pounds (he was a teenager) so then when he did get food, I believe by that time he was in another foster home, he ate sooo much he became three hundred pounds. Now he still eats like he may not ever have food again. He's no longer that big. It's too many factors for any type of "regulation" if there was going to be one.
I wanted to be a social worker to help children out, but this in no way is help. Another idea has to be hatched.
