Sex Offender Given 646-Yr. Sentence

It is actually kind of true...most men taken into the death row sentence are black men than white men...even thou alot of black and white men commit similar crimes, and they get treated differently to their punishment. Obviously that is racism involved there.

Since there are more whites executed - how much of the people executed to their race per captia?
 
according to census.gov --
223,965,009 whites
37,131,771 blacks
in the USA.

ON the death row currently to accurately reflect the percentages:
BLACK
1,364 41.6%

WHITE
1,457 44.4%

So per captia:
0.00367% Blacks to their population are on death row.
0.00065% whites to their population..

see the difference?

6 times as much blacks as whites.

Whites by census make up about 70% I believe and Blacks make up about 13% I think it is hard to make a distinction by race though because so many people are multi-race.

But another interesting point from the same source. Avg Death Row population is 44% white and 40% black which would indicate that as death row populations go.....Whites are executed at a higher rate than blacks.

The more telling and perhaps racist element is the race of the victim. In cases that end in execution the victims of those executed were overwhelmingly white.

But again I am equal opportunity. I would like to see all murders fry.

Very understandable.

But tough to get an equal opportunity jury since we're composed of 70% whites?
 
I don't disagree that per capita more blacks are executed than whites. I disagree that it is due to racism only. Alot of things like enviroment,education level and income level come into play as well.

Yeah, its not about racism. The facts are there.

Since whites are majority - 70%. Why arent there 70% on the death row?

After all MOST of the everyone (regardless of race) in the nation has the equal access to the same education, environment, etc.

(except for areas like East St Louis)

See. I disagree that this is much of an issue because our court system only requires a defendant to convince one juror.

Also, in most larger areas where most murders occur the black population is larger than the national average meaning the per capita is skewed back and jurys are more likely to have more black members.

Hmm The most interesting thing with statistics is that we can skew them to whatever we like.

There are a few strange things about people in general, really.

Especially in that case where a bunch of black people were summoned for jury duty and none of them showed up... :scratch:
 
Yeah that's why I am not for the death penalty if there is doubt. In this case the guy had the pictures on his camera and was still with the kid. That trial should have been 5 minutes. I would also be ok with no death penalty for those that plead guilty because then they are probably saving us enough in trials and appeals to pay for their stay behind bars.

2 days ago a judge here gave a guy 4 years:shock: [which means he will be out in 2 1/2]
for molesting and raping 10-20 young girls over a 10 year period!

Judges in Ireland are totally out of touch with the real world:roll:
