VISTA, Calif. -- A repeat sex offender who molested four young boys over a 13-year-period, beginning in 1994, was sentenced Friday to 646 years to life in state prison.
Hubert Haraszewski, 34, was convicted last month of 23 counts, including child molestation and possession and distribution of child pornography. Days later, a jury found that Haraszewski was sane at the time of the crimes.
Haraszewski spent nine years in prison following a 1996 child molestation conviction.
In the latest case, Vista Judge Timothy Casserly sentenced the defendant to four sentences of 75 years to life, 10 sentences of 25 years to life, five sentences of 15 years to life and another 21 years behind bars, all to run consecutively.
Deputy District Attorney Patricia Lavermicocca told jurors that Haraszewski was a "proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing" who most recently molested a 10-year-old boy, an 11-year-old boy and two 12-year-olds.
Lavermicocca said the defendant, who lived in Palmdale in Los Angeles County, befriended a 12-year-old named Coby from Costa Mesa and in October 2007 took him on a camping trip to San Onofre State Beach, where both of them got naked at a nude beach and Haraszewski molested the boy in a cave.

The defendant also let the boy drive his BMW until they were pulled over by a park ranger, the prosecutor said.
Inside the car, authorities found Vaseline, condoms and a camera with photos of Haraszewski and the boy together, the prosecutor said. Authorities also found a flash drive hidden in the trunk containing child pornography, Lavermicocca said.
The prosecutor said Haraszewski and the boy met while riding BMX and dirt bikes in Costa Mesa.
Another of the defendant's flash drives contained photos of a Palmdale boy named Bryan posing in a rusted-out car in various stages of undress, Lavermicocca told the jury.
Bryan was molested in October 2007 while Haraszewski was out on bail, the prosecutor said.
Haraszewski molested a 12-year-old Ventura boy named Nolan, who shared the defendant's love for motorcross and roller skating, beginning in 1994, the prosecutor said.
In addition, the defendant -- when he was 17 -- molested an 11-year-old boy named Darrell, who loved to roller skate, Lavermicocca said.
Haraszewski wrote on MySpace and other message boards of his love for Darrell, the prosecutor said.
Defense attorney Gerald Smith told the jury that "Dmitri" -- as he was known by many friends -- did not molest Coby or Bryan.
The attorney said Haraszewski was not afraid to express his true feelings in writing and did so through thousands of pages of documents.
Haraszewski enjoyed being around young men because it made him feel young, Smith said.
The attorney said it was Coby's idea to go nude at San Onofre, but Haraszewski did not "touch" the boy inappropriately.
Coby initially told authorities that "nothing happened" between him and the defendant, but later said, "OK, he touched me" when pressed by officers, according to Smith.
In one of his writings, the defendant said he didn't molest Coby, Smith told the jury.
"He (the defendant) wrote, 'As much as I wanted to, I didn't do anything,'" according to Smith.
With regard to Bryan, the boy "mooned" Haraszewski, then showed him his genitals, but there was no touching," Smith told the jury.
