And for an even better web browser, install Opera Mini VERSION 4 BETA from www.operamini.com on the BlackBerry. It has a ZOOM feature (kinda like iphone safari).

It's available for many phones including BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, etc... I got it on my BlackBerry 8700r (the Beta2) and it works great!

Only caveat, is that scrolling is slow with the trackball (it puts a small mouse cursor on the BlackBerry) -- just use the numbers key (2, 4, 6, 8) to scroll FAST.

Why I need it to connect Laptop? My laptop have built in WiFi card itself. If your laptop doesnt have WiFi card nor PC card with you. You can use the tethered curve or 8700 series (aka WIRELESS USB ADAPTER CARD WiFi NETWORK as PC card) connect to your laptop for wifi hotspots anywhere as cafe, library, starbuck, airplanes, college, many places. get it?
I tethered my BlackBerry over Bluetooth to my laptop and I was able to use the train, the Greyhound bus, the backseat of car. You don't get WiFi on most of those!

WiFi is great but it's wonderful to have Internet in the backseat of a car sometimes. There is non-stop BlackBerry reception along most major highways now (at least where I live). So if my BlackBerry has reception, I can use the Internet. And I can keep the BlackBerry in my pocket while I use my laptop because my laptop automatically connects to the BlackBerry over Bluetooth. Sit down anywhere, open laptop, and go online -- you become your own personal walking hotspot, even at campsite, cottage, greyhound bus, amtrak train, etc...

My carrier Suncom offers the Rim 8300 Curve for $249. The service is an extra $20 per month for local service added to my regular service. (If I want roaming service, that is $40 per month.) Does that sound reasonable? I think I might get it.

Just this morning, I ordered the Curve--Titanium as an upgrade to my losing my SK 2 while on vacation last August. Should be getting it within the next 7 business days. Got it for 300...then a rebate of 50 after I fill out and send in the form. I think T-Mobile will be charging 40 a month for the service.

Reba, you might want to check out with T-Mobile. T-Mobile recently had agreed to buy out SunCom for about $2bn. I believe they are taking over in the first or second quarter of 2008. With T-Mobile, you don't have to pay for roaming.

Reba, big Hi! I was thought that Suncom already owned by T-mobile. Suncom should have 8320 w/ wifi.

I am wondering if you can handle with curve's vertical keyboard? To honest, Dash or tero's keyboard are sooo small and nonspace than Curve. Curve's keyboard is superior to tero or dash.

But you said, suncom offer 8300 curve for 249.00. That's great deal! go for it! Roaming service, what is suppose to mean? Anyway, You are the first person had mentioned "$20 per months for local service". Actual fact, I never have heard that offer 20 bucks for local service. There is no offer for local service at all. BB expected to offer voice plan or data service such as email, internet, or both voice and data plans.

Mine 29.95 each payment months for data plan only included voice and limited 300 texts. Isn't that reasonable?

I went in person to the Suncom store today to get information.

The clerk there told me that T-Mobile probably won't take control of Suncom until next year (but she really didn't seem sure to me). I asked her if the take over would effect pricing, and she didn't know that answer. :hmm:

Any keyboard is better than the tiny one on my Motorola phone. :P

The first time we got information about the BB, my Hubby just asked some questions on the phone; I don't think he got the right info. Anyway, here is the break down of costs (rounded up to the dollar):

Equipment:
BB 8300 = $250
car charger = $20

Charges added to current phone plan:
E-mail & internet monthly = $15
SMS plan (400 msg/month) = $5

Our two regular phones are on a monthly plan that allows combined call hours, local anytime, and long distance on evenings and weekends. We don't have the roaming plan because we don't travel often out of the Suncom region. We take one long trip out of state only once a year, so we pay the extra roaming charge just for those calls. If I get the BB, then I will get rid of one cell phone.

That seems OK.

Here's the big news flash:

Right after I went to Suncom, I went home. I had an email waiting for me. It informed me that my working hours have been cut to less than 1/3. So now, I can't afford to get the BB. :( I'm very disappointed.

Maybe next year will be better.

My answer: I am sorry to hear that cut your workhours. but smart strategic way, you better wait till T-mobile modify Suncom to new brand under Tmobile in 2008 soon. They will have 8320 with wifi. ;)

So your decision was right. :)
see black bold by my answer. ;)

HOORRRAAAYYYY!!! T Mobile BB Curve ARRIVED!!! I saw that last week!! I was at work checking out on an internet and was very happy to see beautiful sight of BB Curve. Hey XBGR, I love Titanium over Gold!!

BAD NEWS!! I won't be able to afford it till later.. I scraped my nice big Durango on stupid stupid short pole :rl:that I was distracted by sunlight at Quick Trip!!! I had to pay $250 deductable to pay for $3,500 damage on my truck!! GRROOWWWLLLL!!! $$'s would have used for BB Curve IF I hadn't scraped the truck!!:pissed::pissed::pissed::rifle::rifle:

Oh well!! I would have to figure out how to make extra $$$'s to cover BB Curve purchase. Since I'm Tmobile member and I called Rep over VP100 relay and they told me that I can get one for $219. It was several months ago. I will touch base with Tmobile again to be sure cuz BB Curve offically arrived.

AAHH well!! what can I do!! Boo hoo!!

Hey I did finally tried my friend's brand new BB 8830 World Edition. I was so glued to BB 8800 and was about to becoming a Crackberry user. My friend asked me to hand her BB 8800 back after 30 min of toying around. Awww shuck!! Oh well here's ur niiiice BB 8800.. I got general idea on how BB 8800 works. I loooovee video!! I would LOVE to copy video from Youtube, personal video or a minimal version of DVD movie after converting it to smaller format for mobile. It would be great for keeping me busy during work boredom.

Thanks
Catty

Hi! I own a BlackBerry 8800 and I wanted to give a little feedback. Two bossmen bought a BlackBerry Curve after being jealous of my own BB :)D). When they arrived to the office I picked one up and it felt light, like a toy. :( It was much lighter than my BB8800 and as a result felt less sturdy.

I'm sure it's a brilliant device (both bossmen like them now) but I'm glad I have my BB8800 and its weightiness.

hehehe I paid $100 for 8320 and loving it!! it was $150 plus $50 rebates, free car charger and no TAX :)

later!
YOMAN!

How is it possible that you only paid $100.00 for the 8320?

I printed deafpager com they AD curve for $149 plus free car charger and i brought it to T mobile local dealer, they matched it plus $50 rebate :)

Just got other Curve for my wife but they added tax :( $190 total plus $50 rebate.

I suggested you try print it and bring it to tmo store to see if they match it or not

YOMAN!

I was able to scrape up some extra money so I can buy the BB Curve now. But I checked all the local Suncom stores, and they are on back order. They don't expect to get any in for weeks. :(

The "sales associate" at Suncom had one on hold for me (with my name on it) but another associate sold it to someone else before I got to the store. That was the last one.

Now I'm really upset.

I just went to the Suncom website. I thought I could buy a BB Curve on-line.

Guess what? The BB Curve is gone! It's no longer included as an option for Suncom. It disappeared overnight! Now there are NO Blackberry options at all for Suncom users.

It's been replaced by the HTC S621 EXCALIBUR. Is anyone familiar with that?
