I was joking.
I know. Hence my smileys.

True. Some parents can can figure out to cut down like they can get rid of car that gas expenses are not cheap. BUT i know they do need a car for kids' doctor purposes. That sucks part. They can always sell the house according to OP's post stated mortgage and switch to rent apartment and many ways of cutting down on things that are unnecessary.
Sell thier homes? I resent that statement. BIG TIME!!
There are times where living in apt do cost more then house does. Its the majority who buy more then they need. If you have kids and having a mortgage is ideal over apt. its an investment. its a place for kids to call home. regardless how much the morgtage is, if half of SS variety covers it, and rest for everything else, then let it be. If mortage is nearly 90 percent of SS, then Yes I agree they need to sell, but not always go to apt. they need to downsize to a more manageable payments.
Plus the mortgage company may be more willing to give a payment "holiday" than a landlord would be.I agree. Only if relying on SS completely to pay is not always a good idea. House is pretty expensive to fix the window, roof, door, bathroom, kitchen and goes on. How do you get extra $ for fixing those stuff for the house? apartment, is a flat $ monthly without worrying if the winodw is cracked or so the landlord can take care of it.
But of course house is a good thing for an investment. It's definintely stick situation with money issue.
There is nothing on ssa.gov (the Social Security site) in their "press room" section that says anything about benefits being delayed.
Did SSI arrive today? I know SSDI/SSA arrive on 3rd but not sure if SSI arrived today.
SSI usually arrives in the first week of month while SSDI usually comes based on the birth of date ( last time I recalled of.)

really? never knew that. I always thought ssi was 1st and ssdi was 3rd. I never heard of any other dates.
On the other hand, with the reps passing votes and today senate will vote.
At least the bill protects medicare and SSA for this year. might start all over again next year. Problem is there will be cuts to feds agency's phasing in the next 10 years including staffing of SSA's because of todays possible voting of yes to budget.
Since Senate passed the debt deal. Yes, SSI/SSDI will arrive very soon as well as you will see it on your bank.
Social Security Benefits Will Be Paid On Time
