Random Vents.....

The boys have the TV !!...UFC...nothing else worth looking at...and when ur trying to not smoke and watch UFC...

My job is asking more and more of us...I'm behind in everything...we got a new curriculum that is just WAY too hard and when we say something about it, the admin says to modify it...that kind of smug answer PISSES ME OFF. It takes weeks to modify a curriculum...so what's the point?! Plus now they have mandated more after school meetings and more piles of paperwork. I need to do lesson plans and teach. My week averages 55-60 hours of work now...and I'm still not caught up!!!!! :(

Are u doing the Common Core Standards something curriculm?

Iam behind as well but lately, I haven't been giving as much crap about it. The adminstrators need to realize by piling up more work on us creates a no win situation for everyone so if I get yelled at....oh well. At least I know I am doing the best I can.

CScope Curriculum. *gag* My problem is that a few select co workers are caught up and seem to be ok...I just found out they have an extra prep that the rest of us don't. That kind of pissed me off even more because they are smug about not being as stressed as the rest of us. I want to do my best but it's completely unrealistic. I'm almost at the point of walking out for good.

We just got a new principal and hopefully things will improve under her direction. *crossing fingers*

Hope so!!! I will admit I adore my bosses...they really are good to us. The expectations come from higher-ups in suits who are clueless about education, not them. It's just frustrating.

The after-school shit...that's gotta stop.

ohhhh on the state and federal level? they know shit about edcating children especially deaf children.

Stay late once a week? I am starting to make myself leave no later than 4 except for on Fridays. I do.nt care if I am behind..I figure if I stay late I would still be behind so just f$%& it and leave at 4 for time with my family and myself.

They mandate every Tues and alternating Fridays for us to stay until 4:30...now they are starting to have more Fridays and added Wednesdays a couple of times. Last week we had to stay until 4:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday...sometimes we have school-wide training on Mondays until 5. 7:30 to 5 and our lunch breaks are 45 minutes. We had our Open House until 6 a few weeks ago. Long days. And for the same pay!

Really? We are mandated to work from 8 to 4 but I tend to go in at 7 and sometimes leave at 5 but I have been leaving at 4 more often and go in at 730. Trying to quit with the 10 hour shifts because I don't get paid extra for thejm. At first, it was because I didn't want to fall behind but even with working 10 hours a day, iam still behind so that's when I said f%$% this. Iam done.

You're right. Leave the work. Tomorrow's another day. If all of us teachers would do that then maybe the administration will back off. I have a life to tend to. :)

What happened to teaching? Sounds like they have laid on even more paper work and BS since my dad retired from teaching 3 years ago. Here in AR we have the SmartCore Curriculum.

As far as flu and pneumonia shots for asthmatics and all. I know I can't take them with all my allergies to a multitude of medicines, but we also found out and a lot of people don't seem to understand; my son is an asthmatic and uses his Advair twice a day and his rescue inhaler (Albuterol) 2 times daily as well. He has all the same allergies that I do with medicines and so even though he has asthma, we have been advised by numerous doctors not to allow him to get these shots. I have to keep him away from people and keep him as healthy as possible. Luckily, he is not in school and that helped a great deal. He stays inside mostly these days as most anything outside will affect either his asthma or allergies.

I graduated the year that NCLB was signed into law so it feels like more and more paperwork and demands are added each year. I dont know if it has always been like that for teachers historically.

Today, my pastor embarrassed me by bringing me an FM receiver during sermon in front of everyone. Kinda made me mad, but obviously he's not dealt with this so he doesn't know how to handle it. I didn't want to bite his head off, but I was a bit upset about the way he did it. I think he meant well, just kind of bumbled his way about it in a way.

I didn't want to wear the FM system for two reasons:
1. I don't want to share ear wax with the congregation as it is earbuds, not headphones.
2. I just didn't feel ready to use the FM system again after it was taken away in school 20 years ago.

Is this normal?? Am I going insane?

I agree that shouldn't have done it during sermon. I belive everything should be taken care of before service as to not distract everybody.

I probably turned 4 shades of red from the embarrassment. I'm wondering what the best route is to take care of this in a nice manner.

Can you talk to other leaders instead of pastor? Get their opinion?
