President Obama still smoking

I honestly don't care if we have a president who smokes, cheats on his wife or whatever else as long as he/she is doing a good job for what we chose him/her to do. I understand that things like this who us what kind of people they are, but everyone makes mistakes and does things they regret, nobody is perfect. My main concern is how our government is running. My opinions on that I will keep to myself.

Why so many words????

Smoking isn't that big of a deal to me either as a Prez.....It just seems out of step with this Prez...

The cheating in Office....... :dunno: The problem with Clinton was lying about it under oath. I never bought into the "he was just lying about sex" argument. Lying under oath is lying under oath to me.

And I actually liked Clinton......I disagreed with him most of the time but I do believe he was trying to do what he thought was best.

Not so sure about the last two though

I guess you are rubbing off on me. :

I liked Clinton for the most part. I hated Bush. Obama, I'm not sure yet. :) I understand the lying under oath, that was wrong. But it seems like too many people are judging people's personal lives and not enough of the stuff that's important.

I didn't think Clinton lying under oath was very good behavior for a president. But I also knew it would be difficult to successfully impeach him.

Tons of leaders have had mistresses or drinking problems. Hitler only had the occasional beer. Are drinking habits and other "bad habits" really indicative of a person's overall moral compass?

yes!

I have seen people my age whom I would expect to be the last people I would think of get addicted to smoking. It is amazing how cigaretts draw people in.
Yes, that's amazing. I never really understood the attraction even though I grew up in the era where cigarettes were advertised everywhere, including prime time TV. Actors smoked like chimneys on TV and in the movies. There were hardly any places where smoking wasn't allowed. My dad smoked for many years.

I was never lectured about the evils of smoking. There were no campaigns against it. It just never interested me. I guess I was fortunate to have never had enough money to waste on cigarettes to start with. There are benefits to growing up poor.

My grandpa tried to quit the smoking before I was born but failed so he still smoking until lung cancer started in 1994 then brain cancer in 1995 and died after that.

It would be depends on people, some people couldn't quit smoking at anytime, even I don't know about Obama is capable to quit smoking but he could try it so take more time to break the habit from smoking.
I know. My MIL didn't quit smoking until she was in her 70's. She quit only because she almost died. Now she's hooked up to oxygen 24/7, and has no energy to do anything.

Good point. Caffeine addiction just isn't as stigmatized as nicotine addiction. Of course the fact that smoking also affects people in the smoker's vicinity adds to the stigma, but having too much caffeine, just like smoking, is bad for heart health too.
Yeah, I think the "second-hand smoke" aspect makes smoking more stigmatized.

for those who would like to quit, have tried everything, there is a prescription called Champax, it actually worked for my b/f who has a very addictive personality and tried for years to quit, the gum, the patch, cold turkey, a course with the cancer clinic. This drug made him just not care about ciggs, he would forget about them. Might be worth your hubby talking to his Doctor about Shel.

Maybe have a large visible glass jar with blackened, cancerous lungs in formaldahyde solution as a good reminder and incentive to quit? Or have a nice stroll through the hospital wards full of people with lung cancer or full blown emphysema as a source of inspiration? Keep smoking Obama. Your kids will love you for it.

maybe you should mind your own business and let people do whatever they want. Whatever happened to free choice?

Not nice, man.

It is very hard to quit the smoking so some of my families are experience about quit the smoking is hard and take more time for Obama to quit so successfully.

Yup, there's previous US presidents are smoker in past, of course but can't remember whoever did.

Quibbling?

I said about the jar and hospital ward as a source of inspiration. They still have a choice, an informed one.
