PRESIDENT BUSH WILL MAKE ALL DEAFS TO WORK WORK WORK and STOP SSI, SSA, AND SSDI IN N

I rest my case! Don't believe it until you see it STRAIGHT from SSA's mouth!

deaf reaper in the general discussion also did the same thing so im going to ask the mods to please merge it :) thanks

It's not easy for anyone who is deaf to get a job just like that so sometimes while they're still looking and applying, they have no choice but collect SSI for temporary until they finally get a job. I went to the SS office asking them about this "Ticket to work" and if it was true about SSI cutting down and will stop for those who gets income from the SS, they said no not true at all.. so I am not going to believe that at all since there was nothing in the media or news or a letter from the SS office saying about this. I remember getting an email 3 years ago that SSI will stop and all that. But that never happened, then last year I got this email, and now again.. IMO, it's just a hoax.

it's not true that we'll be forced to cut SSI and work immediately, but they do have "ticket to work" for people who can't find jobs and the SSA are willing to help out.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most of those taxes go to the MILITARY and CORPARATE (NOT social) welfare programs! Read some Michael Moore! Only a very tiny percentage of tax dollars go to things like education and social welfare programs. Besides...what's wrong with social welfare? Studies have shown that most people on welfare are on it temporarily. Most people use it to get through a rough spot in life.Only a small percentage abuse it. That's the same with Disabilty!!!!

deafdyke is definitely right about this issue. Some of our congresspeople have a dirty job by increasing their salary. I remember some articles about some congressmen are spending a lot of time outside and they never use their own money for their expensive vacations. It is not people's fault who receive their welfare payments.

Our hospitals are the biggest problem of all, and they still keep charging patients too much money. For example, a sheet blanket cost around 60 dollars a day, to watch a TV - charges maybe 80 dollars, a nurse gives you a pill at the hospital charge you four to six times higher than normal price. It is obvious that there is no protest to against our hospitals.

A congressman's wife receives approxiately $250,000 a year for her retirement. What more do you want to blame on welfare people? I cannot say more about it because it has not been changed especially hospital fees and congress people's dirty money. It would better off for you to focus on the hospital and the congress issues. For welfare issue, that's later. I am shamed that you guys are not thinking about that situation. Sighs.

THE TRUTH
What is the Ticket to Work Program?

This new program increases choices for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients in obtaining employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, and other support services. It also removes barriers that require people with disabilities to choose between health care coverage and work, and insures that more Americans with disabilities have the opportunity to participate in the workforce and lessen their dependence on public benefits.

A ticket is issued to eligible SSDI or SSI recipients. Recipients can then use their ticket to access employment, vocational rehabilitation, or other related services.

Who is Eligible for a Ticket?

Most Social Security and SSI recipients with disabilities will receive a ticket. Disability recipients who are between 18 and 64 will be eligible for a ticket except those who:

Are medically expected to improve and have not had their first continuing disability review (CDR);
Are SSI recipients and are not receiving benefits based on the adult standard;
and,
Are not receiving a federal benefit.

The selected recipients will automatically receive a ticket and a brochure in the mail explaining how the program will operate. The tickets will begin being mailed November 15, 2001 to eligible recipients whose social security number ends in a one.

Do Recipients Have to Participate in the Ticket To Work Program?

No, the ticket program is voluntary. Recipients do not have to participate. If recipients choose not to participate in the program, this decision will have no effect on their Social Security benefits. As always, the MRS will continue to provide vocational rehabilitation, employment support services, and all of our other services as we have in the past to eligible individuals regardless of whether they are a ticket recipient or not.

Who Provides the Services to the Recipients?

Recipients participating in the ticket program will receive employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, or other support services from organizations called Employment Networks. Employment Networks are private organizations or government agencies, including the Michigan Rehabilitation Services, which are approved by, and have agreed to work with the Social Security Administration in providing employment services to Ticket holders.

Is There a Time Limit for Using The Ticket?

No, not as long as the recipient is eligible to participate in the ticket program. Basically, recipients are eligible to participate in the ticket program as long as they are receiving a cash benefit from Social Security that is based on a disability. Under certain circumstances, recipients can put their ticket on hold and will still be able to participate in the program at a later date.

What will a Ticket look like?

The Ticket is a paper document that will have some personal information about the person receiving it and some general information about the Ticket Program. Click here to see a sample ticket.

How Do I Use My Ticket?

The letter that you receive with the "Ticket" will explain the process. The first step is to contact the Program Manager - Maximus at the number below. Maximus will provide more information on how to use the ticket and choose an Employment Network.

Will My Benefits Be Affected By Participation In The Ticket Program?

Working and receiving any income may have an effect on some or all of the benefits recipients receive. The Benefits Planning Assistance and Outreach program are available to work with whoever want to be employed. Recipients are encouraged to seek benefits counseling to learn how earned income may impact benefits. This is a critical factor in determining if the ticket program would be beneficial to you. To obtain benefits counseling, you contact a benefits planner in your area.

Who Is Managing the Ticket To Work Program?

Maximus, INC. is a private company that is working with SSA to help manage the Ticket to Work program. Maximus can answer questions about the Ticket to Work program and can provide the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the Employment Networks in the recipient's area. You may contact Maximus at 1-866-968-7842 (1-866-833-2976 for TTY) or visit Maximus on the web.

ooops almost forgot part of the TRUTH....
President Clinton (not Bush) signed into law the "Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act" on December 17, 1999. On December 28, 2001, the final regulations were released. Starting in February 2002, the Social Security Administration (SSA) began mailing "Tickets" to eligible SSI/SSDI recipients in thirteen "Phase 1" states.

one of the best solutions: enforce every government agency
MUST have at least one deaf employee "with an authority in hiring"
so that way this deaf employee can encourage and
hire many more deafies.

I almost never see any deaf employees with "an authority in hiring".....
Sigh ....

I have to say that if this is a real program, i fully support it. Now i just wish they'd do something for people that pump out a kid every 5 years so they can collect welfare and never have to work. If you can work, then damn it work. If you have a real problem where you cannot work, fine let the govt support you, but i dont want the money i earn going to some fuck that can work, but chooses not to because they can sit at home and collect money for finding a way around working. If i offend you, then you are some fuck, and i'm not sorry, get a job you fucking bum. To everyone that does work, or trys to work, with or without any disability, right on, keep up the good work.

Im trying not to be a smart azz, but I have been working since I was 8 years old - worked on my grandfather's farm and learned to drive when I was 11 - every summer after school I would take the Greyhound to western KS where I grew up and work from sunrise to sunset and sometimes longer and not come back to StL until at least a week before school started...and yeah, I sure had a lot of fun...swimming, rodeos, country fairs, dirt track car racing...all that...

So, yeah, it may not be easy to find a job, but I really don't have much sympathy for those who whine that they cant find a job when I can find them any time any place any day sitting on their asses watching soap operas day in, day out.

I have a friend that is severly deaf, and with poor reading/writing/speaking skills...he is VERY gainfully employed working in an assembly line factory in north StL City...so yeah I'm sure there are plenty of jobs...just gotta get off the couch and hit the streets.

No, I just call them my daughters. I "adopted" them IRL and online...cuz Ive known FlyFree when she was just shoulder high...and she still is. MizzDeaf - two summers ago, when we were carefree...lolz.

I agree with JavaPride! It's really sweet of you to do that, DreamDeaf. Group hugging with JP and DD! :grouphug:

To have SSI, it waste your time.

I work on two jobs while going college. I able to support myself. I keep tell myself. "I can do it". The echo come from my parents.

I understand how to handle myself without have to use govt's fund. I feel lot better and being reach with hearing's level. I glad I decide to not use SSI after use for a year.

A poor excuse to use their Deafness to apply for SSI or SSDI... get off your ass and work!!!!

Ouch!!!... Well I would not call them lazy or say get off ur lazy ass.. Freaky,, u dont know what they are doing in their lives.. u cant just say they are lazy and not be able to work.. there are tough to find jobs out there expectly good jobs that help support their income. or they dont trust day care or strangers to take care of their children while work.. there are alot of reasons.. so I would not say lazy... cuz my sister angel is not lazy...

or they dont trust day care or strangers to take care of their children while work
what kind of fucked up excuse is that???? if you cant support your kids, DONT HAVE EM!

I think alot of deafies give up on looking for employment. We get shot down a few times and think to ourselves, "well, if I cant have the job I want, I will just settle for SSDI to support me and my family". Do hearing have this option???? You sit there are whine "Im NOT disabled!" and "Deaf can do anything but hear", but then claim the SSDI. HYPOCRISY!

excuse me u read me wrong Eve... Its not about support children its about abused child abused how many day cares and strangers watch ur children and some of them end up in abused or neg... u darn well know that.. am i correct why put a child in risk? some parents are overprotection of their children i have put my children in day care and have reported one day care cuz my baby end up with a rash all day only had used one diaper in 9 hours in day care tell me is that correct? No!.. so before jumping on people what they meant ask first dont think.. when u dont know what u talking about urself.. hummmmmm.. thank you. there are some daycares and people who would watch ur kids are dangerous u have to put all ur trust into that place or person who willing to watch ur kids... with me its not easy finding a day care i trust or having someone I trusted with my children.. I do look around alot of day cares to see which place is best for my child... its not easy.. U have to put all ur hands in that person who is going to watch ur kids.. of course there are risks but if u are conforable with having them watching ur kids thats great.. but with me I m very careful who watches my kids and I do have a person who watches my kids and is very good with my kids so thats how i do it..
