Phonak Naida

does anyone get that their ha sometimes sounds staticky:S

Yes, I'm aware of the bluetooth capability on SmartLink SX, however I didn't think I would need it anytime soon because I don't have a lot of devices that is capable of bluetooth. My computer has a bluetooth USB adapter, and my PS3 is capable of it too as well. That's it. I'm happy with using an audio wire to plug into my computer or the TV. After all, they are much lighter, better, easier to carry around than the FM systems from my childhood. :)

I felt that the basic set-up would be fine for me right now. So far, it is doing good. I paid around $269 all together for EasyLink and MyLink since the government paid for most of it along with a company rebate of $400.

Maybe someday I'll plunge down the cash for a bluetooth-capable device or whatever comes along in the future.

With what you paid for it, it sounds real good. I had been worried about systems with cords that connect wirelessly to my aids, as in the past they kinda sucked. I am intrigued with the iCom, as I want to have some sort of stereo setup so I can listen to music, which does help relieve tension....... :)

I also use a bluetooth USB adapter from Iogear to do the same effect hooking to my Smartlink....I have a weakness for high technology as long as I can afford it, as well as whatever the govt. will actually give me. :)

i think i shud keep my cat away from anything small period! she couldn't have stolen my fm tho it's in its case..somewhere..lol She ONLY stole my first una..i'm still on the 2nd! thank god! My mom wud killllll me if i lost it! cuz this time i won't get a free replacement!

Are you sure your cat isn't a big mouse? They like to take little things to take to their nest... :)

Oh, I'm pretty tech-savvy myself too as well. But they aren't related to hearing aids, that's for another discussion. :)

If it is humid where you live, you definitely need one....I do too, at least one that is easy to dump my aids in...I can be lazy to the point that I won't take the time to unscrew the cap to put mine in the dri-aid jar.... :naughty:

same here.....I suppose to continue the discussion, I have to move to the Dell Laptop forum?? LOL Or Slashdot?? :laugh2: guess I'm getting stupid now....

I may not even get anywhere with the replacement Naida until after I get back from NM. I leave next Wednesday and will be gone for about a week. Don't want to have to deal with the replacement naida if it's going to do funky things during the trip and not have access to my audie. rrr.

You could always get the replacement and make sure you have your Supero with you too. That way if the Naida works...you have it. If it doesn't, you have the Supero!

YAY! My audiologist is back to work tomorrow! I am going into to have her actually program my left aid so I have TWO working ears again!

This was posted on another forum I frequent!

"If any forum users have a problem with the Naida or Exelia muting on it's own, let your audi know, as there is a new firmware upgrade that they can put in with iPFG 2.1a, which solves this issue.

Locally, we were having it more with the Naida and initially thought it was a battery problem, but it seems to be this firmware issue.

The firmware can be updated in the audi's office or they can send it in under warranty to have the update done."

OMG! I am not crazy! hahaha There is a solution! I am so talking to my audi tomorrow!

I wonder if I'm already updated? That's the problem when we don't have access to the equipment :( So far my new Naidas (received 3 weeks ago) have been ok, though it seems to default to the higher volume when I first turn it on, so have to lower the volume, as well as having issues with too much background noise in my work environment. I'm already wishing there were more than 4 program settings, as I like my settings as Tcoil, normal, FM only, and FM + mic. The normal will possibly have to be normal(noisy environment), and FM + mic possibly used as a normal quiet setting so I can listen to music.....I'm not sure...

I got the update today! Yay! They are fixed...except there was a 5 minute period of 'crackily' sounds...I emailed my audie..nothing back yet

I went to see my audi yesterday for another hearing test and it looks like my hearing is even worse than the last audiogram we did. She adjusted the Naidas and now everything sounds horrific. I hate the sound of my voice, the sound of other peoples voices, the sound of everything. I hate it! It sounds the same, the like a monotone drone. I haven't put them on yet today because there are some serious feedback issues too. We thought we had solved that at her office but clearly we didn't. It is embarrassing when you are at the drugstore in the shampoo isle and the person next to you (who you don't know) asks you if you can hear the squeeling sound coming from your head.

Awww that really sucks! I'm sorry! I really never thought that the naidas, being new, would have this many problems. My audi told me in the beginning sine mine were new when i got them as well that there could be a few probs with fitting and such but I only had to go back twice so far to fix sound levels and some sounds i didn't like...I've never had feedback issues unless i have gone to lay down and forgot to take my ha off but usually i just dont really notice the whistling my bf does..but ya sorry your audiogram changed

dsghasdliug still no new earmold, and still no replacement hearing aid. But I did just call the office via relay. Informed the assistant of the software upgrade that solved the Naida turning off/muting issues, and she said she'd inform audie of it. it's been a MONTH since the impression was made and sent off, and a month since audie apparently requested for hearing aid replacement, and still nada. wow, talk about slow pokes. doy

Feedback is much more common with a profound loss than with your type of loss. Because our aids have to be soooo loud there is more sound for the mics to pick up again causing the feedback.

We have solved the tech problems I think. I am pretty sure the issues now are mostly about fine tuning. This is more my audie than my aids I think hehe. I am going on Friday to do some adjustments.

It does kind of suck that my audiogram changed. I really don't have anymore hearing to lose at this point. I only respond to the first 4 frequencies that they test and none of those thresholds are above 90. I know for the lowest two I didn't respond (or at least no consistantly) with the head phones so she had to test me with the inserts. She didn't say that was why she tested those frequencies with the inserts as well but I am pretty aware of what is going on, even if she doesn't always tell me. I think she doesn't want to scare me.

It was like that when I was waiting for my first set of Naida replacments, and when I was waiting for my new earmolds too. It sucks...I know.

I'm due to pick up my new phonak BTEs in 3 weeks. $3700 for the pair and free checkups for up to 6 months. They will be Nadia V SP, and I hope they come with the latest firmware update or I'll be very disappointed at the fitting. The loaners I'm using aren't as good as the original phonak digital BTEs I had for 10 years before (they failed due to corrosion or something, I had them for a LONG time).

I hope things will get fixed and you become satisfied with your new BTEs. I know that with mine, I could have gotten an used car for the price I'm paying. But with rising gas cost and me being in the city with mass transit, I felt justified in paying for the new pair that I'll be using for 10 years or more.
