Phonak Naida

I know how you feel Meghan!

My audi emailed me today (even though she is still on vacation!) and informed me that when she gets back we need to do ANOTHER audiogram... I noticed the hearing in my right ear dropped a bit two weeks ago so she wants to know where I am at. I haven't done an audiogram since...um...March I guess. I suppose I can deal with doing on now. It is probably a good idea to get it all taken care of before the start of summer and such. I don't so much mind doing them with her either. It is just the other audies that I don't know/trust and stuff. I hate that. I feel really vulnerable for some reason! I have an appointment on the 18th for her to fix my left aid. I doubt she will do the audiogram that day. I don't think I have a long appointment booked. Though it would be MUCH easier for me if I only needed to see her once. I would delay getting the left aid fixed...but no...so I may have to go back twice. So annoying! I hate my ears lol!
 
This MyLink & EasyLink FM system I got is pretty neat! I like it a lot so far.
 
I have the MyLink/EasyLink. It doesn't help me too much anymore since my hearing changed. It was good at one time though!

Maybe your aid is in need of a firmware update. When did you get it?
I had a spirited talk with the Phonak rep and told her about some of you having some difficulties.

I just got my aids (Naida V UP) adjusted properly by a Phonak rep today, it's really working nice!!

Maybe you need to send a shout for help to Phonak....I did

I got the aid 2 weeks ago! To replace the last one that was turning itself off.

My audie is in close contact with Phonak about the problem. I had a Phonak rep at my inital fitting. Maybe if the problem persists my audie will have her come back for a fitting.

I feel VERY pressed time wise in this whole process. I start working full time on June 30th. 8-5 or 7-6 Monday-Friday. This basically means I don't have easy access to my audiologist for two months. My hearing also changed again recently and I don't know what that is going to mean for me. We are yet to do an audiogram. That doesn't happen until the 24th. AH!

It seems weird that the aid is cutting off all the time......hope this isn't a persistent problem. How long have you had each aid before it cuts off?

That's quite a significant decrease in hearing. Were you born deaf or did it start later in your life? I was born with profound hearing loss.

One thing I'll say about these EasyLink and MyLink is that it's better than the FM system I had when I was a child. Ugh, these bulky thing you had to carry around. It was attached to a belt that you put around your waist.

However, it was pretty new at the time I had it. Some children were still wearing FM systems strapped to their chests. They were heavy and bulky.

Sorry to jump in on your thread, but I was interested in your setup.

I thought that was pretty cool, but it's missing the bluetooth capability that the Smartlink SX has. With Bluetooth, you can use the Smartlink to connect to your bluetooth phone or another device like a laptop. I know the cost for the Smartlink is over $1000 though, as well as the expense for a receiver ($850) I'm also looking at the iCom ($350), but I hear it has been sold out and hard to get :(

About two weeks. I change the battery as soon as it starts but it seems to make it worse when i do that.

I was diagnosed at 18 months. Then it was only a mild-moderate loss. It dropped to moderate-moderatly severe about a year later and stayed stable until about a year ago when it dropped again. Then in March it dropped once more and has continued to progress since then. Within a month it dropped 30dB, and then within 4 days another 10dB. After that we thought it had stabilized but I really started to notice a difference in my right ear recently so we are going to re-test on the 24th to see where I am at. I can't really stand to lose much more hearing at this point...
 
a lil off topic but i can't find my fm system:( i have a smartlink sx and i don't know where i put it:S :(

Hopefully they can find out why it's happening and fix it soon....going back and forth to the Audi is a big pain.....BTW, I tried to find out if getting fitting software is possible, so I could use the iCube and wirelessly fix my own problems...(I'm a computer tech....) :)

It doesn't come with a remote finder, if that's what you're hoping for (just kidding, couldn't resist the temptation) I hope you can find it, I think it's a wonderful device to have in your hearing arsenal....

Yes, I'm aware of the bluetooth capability on SmartLink SX, however I didn't think I would need it anytime soon because I don't have a lot of devices that is capable of bluetooth. My computer has a bluetooth USB adapter, and my PS3 is capable of it too as well. That's it. I'm happy with using an audio wire to plug into my computer or the TV. After all, they are much lighter, better, easier to carry around than the FM systems from my childhood. :)

I felt that the basic set-up would be fine for me right now. So far, it is doing good. I paid around $269 all together for EasyLink and MyLink since the government paid for most of it along with a company rebate of $400.

Maybe someday I'll plunge down the cash for a bluetooth-capable device or whatever comes along in the future.
 
I WISH! lol i wish my ha did too...my cat stole it and hit it somewhere and i had to get it replaced..lol my school paid for the fm (but i own it) too so i dunno wat the warranty is on it...

I think you should keep your cat away from all of your hearing related things...aids, ALD's, everything! Didn't your cat also steal your first Una?
 
i think i shud keep my cat away from anything small period! she couldn't have stolen my fm tho it's in its case..somewhere..lol She ONLY stole my first una..i'm still on the 2nd! thank god! My mom wud killllll me if i lost it! cuz this time i won't get a free replacement!
