Pat Robertson: Haiti "Cursed" After "Pact to the Devil"

You know the motives of people? Interesting.

Do you have proof that the aid isn't being sent to Haiti? If so, you should inform the IRS of fraud.

I doubt the KKK would even offer any aid.

Interesting analysis. As a matter of fact, I do NOT support the view that God sent the earthquake to punish the heathen Haitians. Earthquakes are a natural result of God's curse on the entire physical world at the original Fall of Man (Adam and Eve's sin). That curse (natural calamities) hits all people, believers and non-believers, Christian and non-Christian, good and bad, gulity and innocent. The difference is in how people react to calamity, not the calamity itself.

I also don't support judging Robertson's motives or the Operation Blessing organization, without some solid proof that there is wrong-doing involved.

I don't watch Robertson's TV program or follow whatever he's up to, so I can't say what his motives are. His theology and mine are not the same.

:gpost:

No, I think giving aid to Haiti while at the same time pontificating about how they are cursed by the devil and all that other filth he spewed at the same time is hypocritical.

Quite frankly, your thinly veiled attempts to defend him are disturbing.

Anyone who says that people who have suffered a devastation is cursed because of something that happened or they did that dont conform to one's views is a sick person.

The extent of suffering is largely a human made event. Haiti is a poor country with a long history of colonialism. There are no building codes. If the country had been functioning with enforced building codes, the extent of devastation would be far less.

The fact that the Haitians have to accept aid from people who consider them inferior is sad but such is the way of the world.

Which aid givers said that Haitians were inferior?

Pat Robertson. Why else would he say that they are being punished by God?

I guess you didn't read my post.

I do NOT support Robertson's theology.

I do NOT support Robertson's conclusion about the Haitian earthquake.

I do NOT support judging the motives of anyone providing aid to the Haitians, without clear, undeniable proof.

I do NOT suggest anyone send money to Robertson's ministry. I have not and would not send him any money.

There is plenty to criticize Robertson for without adding self-righteous judgment of his motives to the pile. If you think Robertson looks bad for judging the Haitian people, you should see how bad people look for judging Robertson's heart. It's not pretty.

Pat Robertson. Why else would he say that they are being punished by God?
In his opinion (not mine), the current people of Haiti are being "punished" because of the sins of their ancestors. In his opinion, they are victims of those ancestors' choices. He didn't say that they are inferior or lesser people. If he believed they were inferior, why would he try to help them? Wouldn't it be better to let "inferior" people be eliminated from the gene pool (if one believed in the concept of "inferior" people)?

What, his heart? ;)

I was just pulling your leg. I agree that none of us is in any position to judge, no matter the evidence. I leave that to others. Getting too old for this, anyway. :aw:

I know that wacky sense of humor you have but you know what a stickler I am. :giggle:

If you're too old for this, where does that leave me? I'm no spring chicken either.

You're doing fine, Reba.

The post-earthquake results seen in Haiti was a manifestation after decades of poor economy, poor building codes, lack of enforcement, poor planning and so on. It was one problem compounding on top of others that led up to this nightmare.

This is so funny... a letter from Satan to Pat:

Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I'm all over that action.

But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I'm no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth -- glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven't you seen "Crossroads"? Or "Damn Yankees"?

If I had a thing going with Haiti, there'd be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox -- that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it -- I'm just saying: Not how I roll. You're doing great work, Pat, and I don't want to clip your wings -- just, come on, you're making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That's working.

But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

Best, Satan

Many faiths unite in facing horror in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - At night, voices rise in the street. Sweet, joyful, musical voices in lyric Creole. A symphony of hope in a landscape of despair.

"It doesn't mean anything if Satan hates me, because God loves me," sing the women at Jeremy Square, their faces almost invisible in the darkness of this powerless, shattered downtown. "God has already paid my debt."
.
.
.
As it often can be with faith, there are doubts to overcome. Some parishioners want to blame the devil, or take responsibility themselves because they have sinned. Some think God has abandoned them.

"This is not the will of the Lord," Alexander tells the two women, sisters who lost their mother and one of their children, a 1 1/2 -year-old, in the quake. "Don't put this blame on the back of anyone. Don't put it on yourself."

LOL! That's brilliant!!!!!! :laugh2:

I am not sayin' anything about UN. Lighhouse77 talked about "nature" and doubted that it is an "act of God". So, I brought up about "pray" that people pray. We, the ADers do pray for them, aren't we ?

Forgot about old topic, I'm asking you a separate question.

I can sum up my response by simply saying this: I am entitled to voice my OPINIONS here, without searching the Web for supporting charts, graphs, or news articles. You can opine without said proof as well. I did not say "Pat Robertson has stolen money" but rather "I don't trust him." Nowhere did I say that all donations were being kept by 700 Club or Pat. I said that I doubt even 50% would make it there. I gotta believe Pat has overhead expenses to consider. Very few charities pay out 100%. I just am of the opinion that Pat has much higher overhead than other charities. No proof; just opinion. We disagree on Pat. Have a nice day.
