okay ad'ers. ask me anything (but be nice! :))

jake,

that's okay. i'm used to this, believe me. it's nothing new. when i'm manic, sometimes it's not unusual for me to go a week and a half without sleep. so far, i'm on day 5...

:jaw: 5 days...no way...

i'm serious. i haven't slept in 5 days.

in fact, there have been times where i've been awake for as many as 10 days straight.

i think i might be rapid cycling again because my mood is shifting between mania to depression to irritability. 5 days of no sleep equals mania.

lucky me.

by the way, i really AM trying to fall asleep, but i just can't do it. i have too much energy bottled up inside me...too much restlessness.

Does your eyes hurt right now?

A normal person does hurts including myself it's called black eyes meaning a person did not get enough sleep, I can stay awake no more than 48 hours, otherwise I get tired and sleepy.

that's why the brain is trying to force the body into sleep mode.

that definitely isn't happening to me. i'm wide awake and don't feel the least bit tired.

1. Who does transcribing of your textbooks?

2. It sounds like you do the shopping yourself in warm weather. If so, how do you know you pick the right cans? (I am thinking of the times before you got CIs)

3. I didn't know of root beer ice cream. Are you sure you aren't talking about root beer float as in vanilla ice cream in root beer? I like the root beer float but I really love coffee ice cream, especially the Breyers brand.

1. my textbooks are transcribed into electronic (e-mail) format by student volunteers who work in the disability office at my university.

2. when i shop, i have a clerk help me. i write a braille list of all the items i need (i also give a print copy to the clerk) and he/she selects what i need. i can usually tell if a product isn't the right one by the way it feels. as for organizing cans, i have braille magnets that stick onto the top of a can and identify its' contents. if i plan to buy some soup or other canned items, i bring the magnets with me and affix them to the can when the clerk identifies them for me.

3. i'm actually talking about root beer flavored ice cream. hires is one brand who used to make it. there was also another brand called "root beer twister" made by cedar crest. unfortunately, both of them have been discontinued. i do love root beer floats, but i enjoy root beer ice cream even more. it reminds me of when i was 11 years old and had root beer ice cream for the first time. mmmm. :D
