No, I'm interest to read your post about Canada.

You should read through it. There's a few errenous statments, however it does highlight some of the problems with the Canadian healthcare, but also promote some of the good points as well.

Unfortunately, it seems like the original poster just slashed it to fit his argument rather than taking it in context.

Here's a list of socalist countries for those who are interested. Source is AC (Associated Content).

Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, China, Vietnam, Syria, Belarus and Sweden are listed as socialist countries. Perhaps someone can show me where to find Canada among the socalist contries?

Here's a more comphresive list from CIA. I notice that CIA haven't listed Venezuela, Belarus, Sweden as communist countries though every other country in my previous list are listed as communist.

I will when I have enough time.

Yup, thread creator is just pure ignorant about Canada and I cannot believe that he was talking about bad thing against Canada at front of Canadian ADers, I think it is rude to say without ask any Canadians to answer about their country.

Agreed.

The Swedes are Communists?

Interesting that Mauritania is a military junta though... One of my high-school science teachers was from there.

The context was to avoid following same model as Canada's socialized medicine. It doesn't help when he wants to cut $500 billion dollars from Medicare with the supposed fantasy they can make this new health care more efficient with greater cost savings. But sad fact is that we lose $60 billion dollars a year from Medicare waste and fraud. What makes you think that a govt run health care business can do a better job? All we have to do is look at Canada which is trying to revamp their own health insurance issue regarding greater access to privatized health care. Canada is going the right way in trying to change their ways while the U.S. is going the wrong way.

I knew I had missed a country.. According to CIA, they're a constitutional monarchy.

I think you missed my mention of the Swedes as not being listed as communist and I must admit I didn't reread my post :P.

Nah, the way the sentence was worded led me to think that the other link implied Sweden is Communist. Your sentences are fine. :p

To be fair... Belarus is listed as a "dictatorship."

Riiiiiiiiiight. Yet 80% of Canadians say they are satisfied with the current healthcare system.

Our problems are not the same as yours.

You have too many uninsured people, spotty coverages and outrageous premiums; our waitlines are too long. Big differences.

Apples and oranges.

Quite true. I didn't think that was revelant to this thread though if I were talking about authorian goverments I'd certainly include Belarus.

Pretty much so. Not all dicatorships are communists or socialists though citizens or more accurately subjects/serfs have little say in government as a small group or a single person has abosulate control over the government.

Socialism has various meanings depending on who you speak to. It's not a fixed doctrine. Soviet style socialists favor a centrally planned economy system. Others are Social Democrats who favor a mixed economy and a regulated market place. Libertian Socialists reject state control or ownership of the economy. Libertian Socalists favor worker's councils and workplace democracy.

Oh yes. A Conservative will call anyone who disagrees with them a socialist.

Or "liberal jackasses."

Wow.

That's hilarious that a few conservatives were called that by a Republican voter.

Not quite. Premiums vary. Ever hear of COBRA? SCHIP? Medicare? Plus numerous private health insurance to choose from based on your needs?

Being put on a waiting list is a big deal, especially if people health are already compromised and need attention right away....not 8 months down the road. When the govt tries to cover everybody, there will be major drawbacks that calls for continual rationing while the population continues to grow. Simply not sustainable. And you have less choice to begin with and those on the waiting list getting the brunt of it.

Obama at a new low in Quinnipiac survey at 46%

The implosion continues.

Remember, only six- months ago he had a 59% job approval rating. Two months ago he had 50% approval rating but this time it's worse among independents. And now we're looking at a 46% approval.

As for the economy, they gave the economy a 57% approval rating six months ago. Now, six months later people are much more pessimistic where they rate the economy with a 41% approval.
