New planet discovered may have life

Wirelessly posted

He didn't say advanced lifeforms; we do have bacteria not of Earth.

What if they find a parallel universe to ours on that planet just like in that TV show, "Fringe"?

don't worry, its just an advanced fungus

The pulse of light he saw was a laser signal. It also was (intentionally?)incorrectly attributed to Gliese 581 (g).

The laser signal he saw came from a completely different solar system (???)

The signal came from Tucanae

I heard about on the news and I like what Brian Williams said about it. He said " we have a planet to go when we screw earth so bad we can no long longer live here. I am glad I will not be alive when we do need to move to another planet, I want nothing to with screwing up another planet!

Sure it's exciting. It's just that...I already felt like there are life out there before proof can be found though.

I just feel that it's arrogant to think we are the only one in the whole universe, lol.

I feel the same way, that there has to been some other planet with life beside earth. I bet they're smarter than us as they're not trying land here!

Yup, I bet they are scared at what they are seeing. We are like a parasite to Earth! Taking from Earth without giving, causing a lot of imbalance in nature!

But maybe someday we will move on beyond what we are born to do and learn not to be selfish, like in Star Trek when money and wanting to be rich basically became useless. That would be cool.

While I am almost positive there is life elsewhere we might be the most intelligent. How scary is that?

maybe there are deaf aliens (?)

apparently there are. The Deaf Alien

The planet is tidally locked to the star, meaning that one side is always facing the star and basking in perpetual daylight, while the side facing away from the star is in perpetual darkness. One effect of this is to stabilize the planet's surface climates, according to Vogt. The most habitable zone on the planet's surface would be the line between shadow and light (known as the "terminator"), with surface temperatures decreasing toward the dark side and increasing toward the light side.

Does that mean the planet is not spinning? So if it's not spinning, then there's no gravity, right?

No, it just means the real estate in that narrow, safe for habitation zone is expensive! Heck if I know.....

As far as we know.
Anyway, that could explain the lack of enthusiasm.

Exactly. Kind of like the stem cell discussions. :P Sometime, in the future, it might be psosible.....

I have no doubt that there is life elsewhere. Kind of ego centric to assume that we are the only lifeform in the universe. But what does that really matter until we can have access to that other life form?
