sorry buddy for you = EPIC FAIL! He wasn't trigger-happy, wasn't he? Be glad that the school shooter gets to live and go to mental hospital for you to treat. At least he saved lives with his big gun, not your hokos pokos shrink talk.

And, once again, you fail to recognize that proactive action could have prevented the loss of any lives.

Well well, you'd never know when a teacher go postal and start shooting students. Kids make teacher go really nuts, that's when the bleeding happens. Guns is NOT a solution to anything at all and never will. Blame that to the invention of combustion related stuff.

Exactly. What about the teacher who develops a mental illness after being granted the permission to go armed in school? What about the teacher who misinterprets the situation? Jiro proposes that students be allowed to go armed, as well. What of the student who is actually firing in self defense at the real culprit, but the teacher mistakes him for the perpetrator? There are just too many holes in jiro's logic. Its like swiss cheese.

and how do you propose doing that for millions of students and schools with a very limited budget? Why bother doing that if school shooting is 1% - a rare occurence? Another example of your FAILED management skill.

That would be a real problem for sure, scary!

You don't see that in news, haven't you? If teachers went really nuts... he can simply go back home and bring the gun to school. I'm sure many teachers have guns at home so school gun ban doesn't really matter.

Another typical failed logical statement from anti-gunners... like in the article. Beating my head against the wall!!!

Why bother arming teachers when the school shooting rate is less than 1%?

The staff necessary is already provided in the budget. Its not a matter of money, it is a matter of policy change.

And why should we do it? Because of humanitarian reasons, jiro. Whether a student ends up being a shooter or not, if they are experiencing mental health issues, those issues need to be addressed, not ignored.

That would be a real problem when a teacher develops a mental illness right after getting permission. I think the teacher who misinterprets the sitation would be a really stoopid one who can't even get his/her record straight. I don't think guns in my opinion is a solution for education, it's not about guns...it's about education and growing up to be a good person. Guns belong to hunting, not killing each other race.

Well, guns left at home...that's when the teacher loses steam and feel better. If there's a gun right next to the teacher's desk...that's a different story.

Actually I didn't propose it. A fellow student in my college - Virginia Tech proposed it. Fortunately - it was approved by several colleges. I'm not gonna bother listening to your silly "What if" scenarios. We get tons of it already. What about undercover cops shooting at prepetrator and get accidentally shot by uniformed police officers? What if the armed neighbor was shooting at the robber and was accidentally shot by cop? omg! omg!

please get real and be realistic. Like I said - I'm sure the armed teachers would be routinely checked by administration and counselor every month and they will act immediately on any complaints against the teacher. and LIKE I SAID - I highly doubt you'll have many teachers signing up to be armed teachers. It's costly and way too much hassle to deal with. Like I said - I don't mind having 1 armed teacher out of 20 teachers in a school.

The reason you don't see it is because teachers are not going armed. Follw your reccomendations, and it is a given that it will start to appear with much greater frequency.

Keep beating your head against the wall. Perhaps it will result in beating some sense into it.

If the administration and counselor have the time to check on the armed teachers every month, then they certainly could better allott that time to providing follow up and services to the students in need of mental health services. Again, proactive, jiro.

not always. you're talking about one isolated angry moment. what about repeated angry moments months after months? all these anger build-up bottled up... as far as I'm concerned - he could just leave gun in his trunk!

School gun ban makes one small difference - more casualities/victims.

any proof? study? anything at all to corrobarate your assumption?

Was that fellow student on campus at the time of the Virginia Tech shooting? You weren't.

And again, the article is talking about a rural high school, not a major university. Two different environments.

Just ban the explosive material...then there won't be guns in the world. :P How does that sound?

actually no. these teachers work at school for years. the administrations and counselors know the teachers - basically like family! friends! it's easy to check on them but students come and go and you have many different type of cases/variables/etc. on each of them... too difficult.

Why can't schools be proactive with student issues, and allow CCW staff at the same time? Why are the two solutions mutually exclusive?

Exactly. Why is it that these situations are not being dealt with in regard to students? You keep validating my point.

that'd be funny to see school shooter using nerf gun :laugh2:

They aren't mutually exclusive, except that the proactive solutions negate the need for a retroactive solution.
