McDonalds to hire 50,000 workers in one day

janitor jobs.

Nah....plenty of people willing to do those jobs. Ag is the area that I think most Americans want to avoid. Cutting Aloe Vera in the Rio Grande Valley in the middle of summer is no picnic. I know....I did it as a kid. :barf: almost every day due to the heat

Yes that is the cost for each child. But you see what I am saying. I agree outsourcing would be the next step for some jobs. I am on record ( ) saying we have to come up with a way to tax companies that outsource jobs. Look what Amazon.com does to us......not good.

That would be tough. I don't McDonald's will knowingly hire illegals....it would be very bad publicity.

What about GE? They didn't pay a dime in American taxes last year. :eek3:

Yeah, I know. I am getting rather long in the tooth to do hard physical labor on a sweltering day. I cannot help but notice that Mexicans are hard workers and indestructible, lol.

I fully understand why you would think of them as being the polar opposite of an asset. Yes, they take your jobs and use your services. They are, however, an asset to your economy. This is fact. Legal immigrants would receive the same rights as you do; this means equal pay. Equality with regards to their salaries could translate to more expensive workers. This means that you would have to pay more for certain goods and services (inflation).

Last thing I'm going to say. Bold = what I said regarding equal pay (what employers would be obligated to pay had the immigrants been legal). I was referring to equal pay regardless of sex or race. It wasn't even the point of the post. You just decided to argue it. You have enough egg on your face. This debate has gotten so off topic that I don't even know what you're disagreeing with. I'm out.

but look at the tax they paid 2 years ago :eek3:

What an amazing coincidence. Again zero!

Edit: Same thing with ExxonMobile. Zero bucks. I will not search for more, since I do not want to feel upset. :(

Yet you also said...

Citizens of the United States are given equal pay for equal work. That's also a fact.

You also fail to consider that the company may look to lower costs in other areas instead of raising price. Or, as Beo brought up....outsourcing

Ummm....I am not the one that read a few paragraphs from a textbook and considered them gospel....

Again everything. We do not have equal pay for equal work here. although there is an act (a few actually) against pay discrimination there are at least 4 affirmative defenses for unequal pay. I even gave you a real life example.....women today are STILL paid less than men.

I also disagree with your assertion that illegal aliens are an asset to our country.....You have yet to explain how something that saves us a little (wages) and costs us alot (education, social services, public services and unpaid taxes/SS contribution) can be considered an asset. The costs are staggering.

FAIR: The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers

I dunno ......I am just a simple guy with 2 business degrees and 20+ years of business ownership experience.....But where I come from we call that a liability. Not an asset

Makes me sick as well. Seems if we simplified the system there would be less room for this kind of crap. :dunno:

Hey, remember I said average of almost 4 per restaurant?

My calculation indeed correct.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Tuesday is the day McDonald's plans to hire 50,000 workers -- or roughly four people per restaurant -- in a hiring blitz that spans all 50 states.

"We're excited to offer 50,000 new jobs, all across America, all in one day," Jan Fields, president of McDonald's U.S.A. told CNNMoney earlier this month.

The new openings are available across 14,000 restaurants and include crew and management positions, part-time and full-time jobs. The average starting wage is $8 an hour, a McDonald's (MCD, Fortune 500) spokeswoman said.

The company says that 75% of managers start out as crew members. Fields began working behind the counter at a McDonald's restaurant in 1978.

The fast-food chain encourages interested applicants to apply in person at their local restaurant or online.

Since the beginning of the year, food service jobs have been one of the fastest growing segments of the job market, accounting for 63,500 jobs added, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average hourly wage across the sector is $11.72. To top of page

McDonald's hiring 50,000 workers today - Apr. 19, 2011

I think it is really joke and their pure intention was to promote their market by announcing huge number of hiring in just a day.

I'm willing to bet a lot of people won't get hired because they cannot pass their drug tests as required by Macca's policy.
