Are you stupid?
Of course you don't mean that in a personal way.

Destroy the wilderness just for an oil reserve that is UNPROVEN? Ruin gorgeous views? Destroy the habitats of animals?
Do you have proof that drilling in the ANWR would do all those things?

How about cutting back on our dependence of oil?
How about doing both?

The human race is so poorly focused on the bigger picture, which goes beyond satisfying our own selfish wants.
What are you willing to give up?

Pinky didn't say that those qualities were more important than intelligence or capability. She said only that she admired them.

To be fair, I think she did say that she admired but did not state them as more important.

Because she is beautiful and have 5 children and was a mayor of 9 thousand people in alaska, is this what she admired her for this?
Did she specifically state that those were the only things she admired?

Of course you don't mean that in a personal way.

Believe me, I don't. I mean, in a political way.

Do you have proof that drilling in the ANWR would do all those things?

Do you have proof that drilling in ANWR would solve our oil issues?

How about doing both?

How about NO? The more we depend on oil, the more we get screwed in more ways than one.

What are you willing to give up?

Television. My car. Eating mostly processed foods.

Just looking for the right opportunity to do so. It will present itself soon.

Neither is spreading lies and slander.
So, address the specific lies and slander. Calling people names doesn't prove anything other than the character of the name caller.

lol, youre an idiot.
Hey, cut it with the name-calling.

Anyways, I think picking Palin is a bad decision considering his history with her. They've met only once. That's like asking a stranger, that you happened to shake hands with 10 years ago, to be your partner. You don't know what will happen and working together may be harder than if they already knew each other long-term.

This is probably his way of trying to win the votes of female voters. :dunno:

She didn't say that.

My question address her, not you.

Where did you read that she neglects her son?

Please go back and re-read my first posts of few hours ago and please use common sense.

I as mother would reject McCain´s offer because my downs sydrome child need more from me and my love than career... It´s my responsible as mother to develop my child with special help/therapy... If she decide to keep down sydrome child then is her responsible, not anyone. It´s not fair to hand down sydrome child to anyone because her career as VP come first and have little time for her son.

Believe me, I don't. I mean, in a political way.
But you use personal insults.

Do you have proof that drilling in ANWR would solve our oil issues?
I've never said that it would be the one and only way to "solve" our oil issues. But it's one more way to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

How about NO? The more we depend on oil, the more we get screwed in more ways than one.
The ultimate goal of no dependence on oil is great but in the mean time we live in a real world where transportation and manufacturing depend on oil. The oil is under American soil and water, so why not use it?

Television. My car. Eating mostly processed foods.

Just looking for the right opportunity to do so. It will present itself soon.
What about affordable home heating and food, plastic products (including computers), all kinds of manufactured products, and even unprocessed foods that have to be transported from the farm to your market. What about any services that use transportation to get to you? What about the road ways themselves? Do you know how many products and services directly use oil products and their derivatives?

Giving up your TV, car, and processed foods might feel like sacrifices but you haven't even touched the surface of things you would need to give up in order to make a meaningful dent in "oil dependence."

One way to cut oil dependence is to use more forms of renewable energy. I'm not saying that we need to cast off oil immediately. The idea is to cut back on oil gradually over time.

Of course, I agree on the part about plastics and transportation. There are already programs in place that recycle petroleum-based plastic products, such as computers. For heating, there are clean-burning wood stoves that use pellets, solar energy and wind energy. All three are not widespread but there are government programs that offer rebates for using technologies like these.

Again, it's going to take a while to really cut into our usage of oil. Battery technology needs to improve even further so that vehicles can be powered completely by batteries, etc.

I think Barack Obama said it best when he said that drilling for oil (in ANWR and other areas in this country), is a stop-gap measure and not a permanent solution.

Nor should they be using him as a poster child to garner votes of sympathy. Now there's a good mother for you!

It could be...:hmm:

As pro-lifer and down sydrome child doesn't to be qualitifcation to be VP.

The moment you add words like defenseless, and exceptions, you start rationalizing it. You have your own exceptions and somebody has their. That is why killings does not and never will end as long as this is the norm. A warrior can not be pro life, it is against the nature of the word warrior. These are not word games, it is a fact. If a person is protector of life, then he will not take life what so ever. If a person has his own exceptions and rights to kill, then everybody else has their own reasons to end another life. One persons personal morals for justifying his own actions is not more holly than others.

Hermes

You are correct Hermes to say it is all word games. That applies to the pro-abortion group as well. It is not pro-choice because if it were everyone would get a choice, even the baby. And since the baby can not yet defend itself, we warriors must defend it against those who would take its life. This is pro-life.

The point is, you had the right to choose not to abort. If you want that right for yourself, you cannot deny the same right to others based on your own particular moral beliefs. Take away my right to choose and you loose your right to choose. To tell another woman that she MUST liver her life according to your religious views and your moral stance is nothing more than self righteous and presumptuos. Especially when in doing so, you place the very programs that could assist a poor young mother in raising that child in jepardy. Until the pro-lifers extend their concern to children after they are born, as well as during the fetal stage, their arguments are nothing more than moralistic and self righteous rantings and attempts to force others to submit to their tyranny.

I would agree with you on one point Jillio. If we Christians, historically had not ignored the plight of single pregnant women, they would not have felt a need to turn to the government to solve their problems and abortion would not be needed, because there would be a loving home for every baby. That is where the Christian community has failed Christ. There are those of us who do extend that concern. The only programs I ever support funding for are those that deal with the care and feeding of these babies. This is something that we are fighting for and trying to educate other Christians on. Do not clump all Christian groups or individuals in the same basket.

Pinky didn't say that those qualities were more important than intelligence or capability. She said only that she admired them.

Since we were discussing her qualifications as a political candidate, it can safely be assumed that particular poster was referring to the topic. There are many beautiful women in America. There are many mothers in America. It has absolutely nothing to do with this political race. If you want to admire someone, admire her for her achievements. She is not responsible for the genetic material that determines how she looks. To use it as a criterion is to ignore the issues.
