Obama says that he personally believes that "marriage is between a man and a woman" but also says that "equality is a moral imperative" for gay and lesbian Americans. He advocates the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) because "federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does." He supports granting civil unions for gay couples, and in 2006 he opposed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. In March 2007, Obama initially avoided answering questions about a controversial statement by a U.S. general that "homosexual acts" are "immoral," but Obama later told CNN's Larry King, "I don't think that homosexuals are immoral any more than I think heterosexuals are immoral."

Civil union is the means by which gay and lesbian couples gain the same rights as heterosexual couples. Many, many heterosexual couples are joined in a civil union. Any one who went to the court house and was joined together by a judge, for instance. In fact, all marriages must be recognized as civil unions, or they cease to be the means by which rights as a couple are gained.

Majority of Catholics (except for my mother and I) will vote for Mc Cain and his VP because of their support pro-life, that is all they really care about and not other issues which bother me mostly. Mc Cain is looking for a way to win voters among Christians and Catholics now that Catholics are frown on Binen(he is for pro-choice) , Obama's running mate. I have been called dumb by other forum for voting Obama. What is scare me more now that, Christians and Catholics and possible many more other religion organation are being brainwash by their pastors and priests byt saying it is worst sin if we support pro-choice alike Obama and Binen. I thought our country USA are separate from religions but now I do not see it anymore, more religions are control people by telling them whom they should vote for and not to vote for. Sorrry for bring religion back in here but that is how I see right now by Mc Cain and his running mate with their background in hope to win the voters. Question I have for Mc Cain and Palin, are they being truthful with American people with their belief or they use us by telling us lies in order hope to win our votes. I am tired of this whole BS.

I think that would probably hold true for the majority of practicing Catholic women, but I'm not so certain about the majority of practicing Catholic men.:hmm:

And I agree with you entirely. Political issues should not be decided on a religious platform.

If people allow their religion or pastors to cloud their judgement when voting, that is a scary thing. To tell someone they are commiting a worst sin by voting for the opposing party, is a form of control, not freedom in which this country's foundation was founded on.

Brainwashing, pure and simple.

I was shocked to hear by them calling Binen and Peloski a bad catholics because of their pro-choice and they should be ex-communicate that is when I am being concern about ti and I could not argue with them. If I open my mouth then they jump all over me. I was alike Inever really see others are like that. It is so bad now not likely before.

I forgot to mention that Palin is very firm and very strong against gays, lesbians, and bisexuals. She also strongly demands to drill many oils in our country included Alaska.

Yes, she is too conservative and don´t care about enivornment-friendly. McCain does as well. It put me off totally.

It seem to me that Palin has a less experience than Obama. Read this article.

Pacman - that's why you really need to vote for Obama. I think that he is a good man. Actually, he is not Muslim. I think that he is Catholic.

Yes, Obama is a good man and want to listen everyone´s POV.
No, he is a Christian, not Catholic.

They sound just as bad as the street gangs and they call themselves moral people? Oh boy..

We will find out in Nov. I won't be surprise priests will do what they were told by Vacatin whom they vote for, of course Mc Cain and Palin because of their stand on pro-lifer. I am already digusted by whole thing.

(CNN) -- John McCain needs what Kinky Friedman calls "a checkup from the neck up."

In choosing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate, he is not thinking "outside the box," as some have said. More like out of his mind.

Palin a first-term governor of a state with more reindeer than people, will have to put on a few pounds just to be a lightweight. Her personal story is impressive: former fisherman, mother of five. But that hardly qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

For a man who is 72 years old and has had four bouts with cancer to have chosen someone so completely unqualified to become president is shockingly irresponsible. Suddenly, McCain's age and health become central issues in the campaign, as does his judgment.

In choosing this featherweight, McCain passed over Tom Ridge, a decorated combat hero, a Cabinet secretary and the former two-term governor of the large, complex state of Pennsylvania. iReport.com: 'McCain pick might be a gimmick'

He passed over Mitt Romney, who ran a big state, Massachusetts; a big company, Bain Capital; and a big event, the Olympics.

He passed over Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Texas senator who is knowledgeable about the military, good on television and -- obviously -- a woman.

He passed over Joe Lieberman, his best friend in the Senate and fellow Iraq Kool-Aid drinker.

He passed over former congressman, trade negotiator and budget director Rob Portman.

And he also passed over Mike Huckabee, the governor of Arkansas.

For months, the McCainiacs have said they will run on his judgment and experience. In his first presidential decision, John McCain has shown that he is willing to endanger his country, potentially leaving it in the hands of someone who simply has no business being a heartbeat away from the most powerful, complicated, difficult job in human history.

I thought he has hired advisors to advise him on making decisions? What happened to them?

See his eyes on her. Think with down there not with brain, prehap..

I'm sure the priests will follow the dictate of the Vatican. But the majority of practicing Catholic men are blue collar workers, union members, and middle class. I'm hoping they will look at the real issues, instead of one singular issue. I have 2 uncles that have already expressed their support of Obama, and they have been Catholic for all of their 74 and 76 years. I'm hoping there are others out there. Likewise, between these 2 uncles are 7 sons, who no doubt will be voting for Obama just as their fathers are. It will be interesting to see how the vote plays out.

I just spit my drink out laughing at that one! That was a great comeback! :laugh2:
