McAuliffe gives Va. drivers 120 days to change Confederate flag license plates

Some of you are confusing personal exercise of first amendment rights with Government endorsement of a specific religion. I'm all for the prior. Run around with your swastikas or confederate flags, crosses and anti equality messages etc. on your clothes or displayed at your home. Just makes it easier for me to tell who is probably a racist or religious bigot that I don't want to have anything to do with.

You need to read up on your worlds events if you think Russia is Atheist paradise. Recently Putin referred to Godless America when he was banning homosexuality in Russia. Rather ironic.
The reason communist governments try to ban religion is that they know the only thing people will support en masse over patriotism is religion. Therefore it's the Biggest threat to their control. At the Breakup of the Soviet Union, religion flourished. In fact Islam is dominant religion in various regions of the old USSR. Russian Orthodox Church is the main religion in Russia.

China tries to stripes religion but it definitely exists there also

Many who came to America came to escape religious persecution in their native countries. In that context you need to analyze the formation of our country. Paramount was that government be out of the religion business so people were free to believe whatever they wanted free of forced beliefs amd laws of any specific religion!

I stated soviet union not russia.
And it billed itself as athiest as well as the workers paradise. and its forced godless system left millions dead.
The above is a fact.
No one.credible really denies it.
Russia now and putin et all were never brought up.
 
And I just explained why they suppress religion. We know that this claims are as true as America being a true democracy

Thats onlY half true. One of the driving forces of the reaction to the quebec act which was one of the major forces that drove the revolution was the acts recognition of catholicism and the free excersise of it, for the "losers" ie the french canadians which the colonist found reprehensible. and this acceptence was contradictory to a full protestant state and colony.. you may believe the founders were athiests or liberals, or didnt mind people believing what ever they wanted. The fact is the founders were protestant christians, and had little synpathy for popish (catholic) religion let alone any of the native vile heathen.faiths as they would term them.
This act was considered by them with its removal of the forced protestant oath as one of the intolorable acts. This was not the only reason for the reaction but it was one of the fundemental reasons. Those who fled to america to avoid persecution were just as quick to pursecute others who didnt hold their flavour of the bible and protestant chrsitian ideals.

The idea of the government being out of the religion bussiness never ment to them and the writers of the consitution that all religion and or mention of it be excuded and forced from or erased from the public square and pubkic life. That is NOT nor ever was a part or motive of them.
That idea is a much later one and not even an american one.

You explained the reasoning behind supression. So what? Everyone has their reasons, stalin had his, pol pot his, mao his, all the athiest saints of the 20th century have had their reasons for mass murder and supression in the name of the state and revolution..

Oh, I missed that one. A gay rainbow flag shows that those people want freedom as well (a rainbow stands for freedom and peace). I don't see how this flag offends the Christians. Did gay people murder the Christians due to this flag? If they did, then this flag must be removed.

It has no place on government property. People can do what they want on private property.
