Man won't submit to security, TSA won't let him fly. Who's right?

Yeah big brother is always on the look out for us.. If its not camera's installed every qtr mile then its these god forsaken scanners checking out our junk... why even wear clothes to the airport.

:laugh2:

Not all pedophiles have criminal records. There's plenty of them out there that can easily pass the background checks with no criminal records attached to them.

Same for schools and other capacities that involves children.

Yiz

Ah....so we should take kids out of school and never take them to a Dr .....

Maybe just keep them in a cage.

That's true. A pedophile has no criminal record until he's caught and convicted. Lots of them haven't even been caught yet.

I'm aware of it. So are cops, lawyers, doctors, etc.

Do you have a solution that can prevent a passenger carrying a weapon?

I've seen several passengers got away with water bottles after the security check.

I'm one of them. I left a water bottle in my backpack that I forgot about and they never took it out. I was like "huh?!" when I found it later.

Me too (diet coke actually) but at the same time I have had them take my toothpaste. :dunno:

It's the screens that don't work, like you said above, it's not until they're caught post screening. Like the shoe bomber for an example. I have never read a single story that a bomber got caught as a result of the screens. It's always AFTER the screen. So we're wasting billions of dollars a year for nothing.

If Muslim women are exempt from the groping, then I would insist on being exempt also.

I don't see why not. When we go overseas, we go by THEIR customs. They should go by OURS if they come to our States. We already have ways to meet in the middle for their customs.

I've been hardcore groped once and this was right after 9/11. A woman was patting me down and touched under my bra. She poked the underwire and said very sternly "WHAT IS THAT?" and I was like "um... an underwire for my bra?" It was so dumb.. she is a woman, she should know!

It's true. The screening process is reactive, not proactive.

So, do you have a solution that is affordable?

I went through the body scanner at DFW (I think....might have been SFO) No big deal at all. In and out in 30 seconds.

Also got patted down at DFW last trip.... Again no big deal. Took about 1 minute....would have taken about half that had there not been communication difficulties. (I took hearing aid out....didn't have to. The even searched my wallet by hand. Too me it's a small inconvenience I am willing to tolerate. I can understand how some might see it differently.

this is an x-ray device. It's a health-hazard reason especially if you're a frequent flyer.

Perhaps TSA officers are tired of removing water bottles out of the bags?

"Oh, another water bottle again. I am not going to do it again. It is wasting my time."

I wonder what's next..... Israeli-style security screening? In here, it's suggested to come 1-2 hrs beforehand due to security screening. In Israel... it takes over 3 hours.

Sounds like my experiences. I've had been patted thoroughly before. It was not at airport. It was at US Embassy. I had to go through three different security check areas just before entering US Embassy. That was before 9/11.

Exactly. Why do they stand behind lead walls when they subject a patient to x-rays in hospitals or even stand far away from a portable x-ray machine when subjecting a patient to a battery of radiation in the patient's room? Even Dentists makes their patients wear a lead "jacket" when subjecting them to radon when taking a picture of their teeth? To me that says alot.

Hence the optional pat down.

But.....it's really not a problem even for the frequent flier. Odds of being chosen for the body scan are slim. Twice REAL slim. 3 times....microscopic. The body scan is a secondary screening.

oh no no - not that powerful. Medical X-ray and Airport X-ray are different. TSA's "Advanced Imaging Technology" screening uses backscatter X-ray technology and millimeter-wave technology. According to TSA's site -

TSA: Safety
Advanced imaging technology is safe and meets national health and safety standards.

Backscatter technology was evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL).

All results confirmed that the radiation doses for the individuals being screened, operators, and bystanders were well below the dose limits specified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

For comparison, the energy projected by millimeter wave technology is thousands of times less than a cell phone transmission. A single scan using backscatter technology produces exposure equivalent to two minutes of flying on an airplane.

Note: Advanced imaging technology screening is safe for all passengers, including children, pregnant women, and individuals with medical implants.
