Be my guest, lol; there's several before you who have long since "retired" from that.

OK, I know that Palin trying to protect the environment from the damage an overpopulation of wolves will bring in certain areas and do have an impact on moose and caribou populations which is understandable but some citizens of Alaska said that they're perfectly comfortable with the amount of wildlife wolves in their areas so instead of killing, why not have them spayed or neutered, that will greatly reduces the amount of overpopulation, then everyone will be happy. :dunno: (just a suggestion)..

A very good suggestion! If they do that to cats and dogs to control the overpopulating then why not do the same to wolves as well? It may cost money but it cost money with cats and dogs too.

maybe..... it's because pet owners bring cats and dogs in? I don't think anybody wants to play cat and mouse game with wolves. Good luck trying to find them (wasting fuel and manpower).... catch them... transport them... remove their balls/ovaries... spend overnight or 2 for medical observance... then transport them back to wild to release it.

Now that is MUCH COSTLIER than with cats/dogs. Probably averaging about $5,000 per wolf while it costs about $150-200 for cat/dog.

Your right! I don't think Angel's suggestion is goin' to work, if not at all.

This is very speculative on my part but wouldn't spayed and neutered animals in the wild make them "different"; would they live out normal lives in all that healthy, normal ones do from birth to their demise?

No. That is done to wild cat colonies all the time. They don't know the difference and they live out their lives without reproducing and making the problem worse. It is a good solution.

Do you understand what you just said? When you say... "as"... that means you're saying pet dogs ARE as dangerous as wild animals
because they DO kill and eat moose. What you just implied is that pet dogs ARE SAME as wild wolves. They are equally dangerous. They are equally wild.

Don´t misintrepret my post because I never say that the wild animal and the domesiticed animals are the same. The fact is you are the one who brought Roy Siegfried´s issue over tiger to remind me in first place and claimed that wild animals are dangerous. I remind you that there´re also dangerous dogs as pets like rottewiller, pitbull etc... which mean is example about pitbull, rotteweller, etc..., not point just wild animals is dangerous because there´re also dangerous pets as well.

If you accuse me for say that pets eat moose or animal wild and domestic pets are the same then you are a liar because I never say one word. I only say one word is "dangerous dogs as pet like rottelier, pitbulls, etc... and know that wild animals and domestic pets are different but they can hurt or tame the owners.

I don't know about you but I can certainly tell you that there will be FAR MORE biting/mauling cases by wolves than pet dogs if baby wolves are allowed to be sold at pet store. Even though wolf and dog are from same ancestor... .

wow...I´m total surprise over your lack of knowledge over the difference between wolf as wild animal and dangerous dog as pet like rotteweiller, pitbull, etc to think that wolves are dangerous to humans than dangerous dog as pet like rottewiller, pitbull, etc which is not.

Fact is: wolves are shy around the people and try to avoid them when they see human in the forest. Wolves RARE attack human than domestic dog (dangerous dog as pet like rottewiller, pitbull etc) to human...

it's still not a same thing. Wolf is not a dog. Dog is not a wolf. Same thing - Human is not a monkey. Monkey is not a human

So?

Thanks, Botti; that's good to hear. I'd like to reserve judgement to just the wolf for now as it is such a highly complex creature. Do you know, specifically?

I just don't understand why some people are upset at the fact that hunters kills wild animals, when shelters also kill pets when they can't find homes for them. There are pets out there who haven't been sprayed and neutered, and when they leave their property to roam and breed, they are usual picked up and placed in shelters, and many of those pets been euthanized because they weren't adopted out to homes in months. Over-population is a big problem in this world that many people don't realized,. It's not an excuse as Liebling states.

Yes, I thought the same and agree with Angel´s suggestion and then say to myself why can´t Palin spent spay/neutred on cubs/pups instead of spend $400,000 for trophy hunter, games, pleasure, etc until I search Alaska Defender of Wildlife´s website to find out how many estimate on wolves population to moose, caribous... and learn wolves´s background...

Forget about spayed/neutered because wolves are not overpopulated... there´re only estimate 7,000 to 11,000 wolves to over million caribous and over 150,000 mooses. 3 to 5 wolves eat one big animal and after that not eat for days to weeks. (Accord the links of population and wolves´s background, I posted yesterday).

Use those word "overpopulation" is a feeble excuse...

As far as I know it is theoretical and no program for wolves yet exists. It is my opinion that it is more humane than killing them.

I was born and raised in Minnesota and still have all my siblings there (Faribault). I moved to CA 35 years ago but I vaquely recall that there is a highly complex program somewhere in northern Minny that deals with wolves. I think and hope it is still there. Can't remember the name of the org....would you mind, Milady?

Assumption again... Can you please show me where you assume that the cost approx $5,000 per wolf for spayed/neuted ?

You said NOTHING about Palin spent $400,000 on trophy hunters, games, plane, etc to kill wolves and bears but worry over spayed/neutered cost...

It makes no sense.
