I find it funny that people abhor polygamy, but at the same time a lot of them practice extramarital affairs...
Extramarital affairs are taboo and "secret" so that makes them exciting. Its participants think they are getting away with something and that makes them feel superior.

Polygamy legitimizes it and takes away the excitement factor.

And adds responsiblity.:P

Really? I think affairs are disgusting, and the participants are selfish and self-centered.

Polygamy can't legitimize it if it's taking place in a country where it's illegal.

same.

Same......so sad for those with families too.

you know what I don't understand? When one gets caught, one apologizes and begs for forgiveness.

Why even bother doing that???

what's worse is some people believe them....I have seen men and women both take cheaters back multiple times.

It's a matter of whose perspective you're talking about. The people who participate in EM affairs see it one way, while the rest of us see it another way.

And I didn't say that "I" thought it was taboo and exciting. I agree with your opinion in that it is self-centered. I have many married female friends and it is a line I will not cross.

The idea behind a marriage is a concept that is found in most cultures. The idea about monogamy as the only allowed kind of marriage is not. It's perhaps both cons and pros with both monogamy and polygamy. It's just that the laws against polygamy looks cultural to me, like laws opposing gay marriages, but hey, I can be wrong.

Look at the Republican nominees for President. Almost all had multiple wives except for Mitt Romney, and he's a Mormon. Hah.
