I have to agree with that. We need equality between men and women as there is so much abuse in the marriages. I know what you mean. Gay marriages is good, but are they going to be good to each other for better, rich or poor? Being married is not bed of roses and not easy at all. At first, it is like a fairy tale and then when the fairy tale wear off and become a reality with so much difficulty in the marriage. That was what happened in my first marriage to my ex-husband. Now I am married to my second husband and still it is not easy but two people need to work at it to make the marriage work for them. Not too bad for us. But for others, it can be way out of wacko and out of control. I hope I make myself explaining to you to understand what I meant.

Some of us are against polygamy and extramarital affairs.

With polygamy, in theory one is responsible for all the spouses. Under Islam, for instance, a man can have up to 4 wives, but he is supposed to treat each one equally.

Affairs can come and go, start and stop, with no responsibility at all toward the extra-marital party.

So you can't really compare the two. People who don't want to accept economic and legal responsibility for the people they are having affairs with won't (necessarily) be any more in favor of polygamy than are devout monogamists.

My sarcastic opinion.

I support same sex couples fully. I was all for gay marriage but realize that it's just too messy. I prefer taking away the legal aspect of marriage altogether. The government shouldn't have been involved with marriages in the first place. In my opinion, that was the big initial mistake.

I have often thought the same thing. Kind of a having your cake and eating it too kind of mentality.
