Jury recommends death sentence for Cleveland Serial Killer

This news may/may not make anyone happy but nevertheless falls within the scope of discussion here.

In TEXAS (of all states!!) an San Antonio judge has sentence a guy to 220 years in prison (just to be sure there is no typo/mis-read, that is two hundred and twenty years). The crime commited is 22 counts of child (between 5 and 13 years old) pornography and molestation/rape. The D.A. said of the guy: "He is an active sexual predator." Which, to me, says they are certain he will continue harming little children.

"It's pretty much ruined my life," one of the victims related, explaining that, among other things, the guy would put cash and lingerie in her drawer for her to wear during the rapes. "I suffer from severe, severe depression. I can't hold a stable relationship with anyone."

Is anyone willing to take a bet that this guy will not die in prison? After all half is 110 years (he is 43 now) and a third is 70+ years. Nevertheless, 22 young girls have had their life "pretty much ruined" by him. IMHO, he does not deserve one more breath of fresh air.

43+70=113 years old... before he is possibly released.

Why do you think he will not die in prison?

Do you think this man deserve to be executed?? since he doesn't deserve one more breath of fresh air?

The USA has the largest prison population in the world. Just saying.

Because of the facts that sentences have been modified/reduced/etc. by future courts, this sentence of today has little bearing. It is well known that few serve the full "life in prison" term and this guy will probably be allowed out before death by natural cause.

Because of the number of victims, this is really a serial criminal but, as I read the reports, he was not charged as such. The heinous crimes and the number of destroyed lifes of these females, require IMO the death sentence. What this guy is going to be like after one month, one year, ten years in prison we can not predict. However, we can forever say the victim's life is "pretty much ruined." The amount of time/$$$$/etc. anyone wants to spend on this guy should first be used for the victims........after they have all passed away and he is still living, then and only then we will allow resources to be used for him. Otherwise, he and we are re-victiming the females.

Understood your suffering and pain. That is why I want to see those who did these horrible and hindeous crime PAY for it BY suffering three times more than these victims have suffering.
you're sick. I still cannot understand how can you be opposed to death penalty because of flawed justice system and yet you support a sick twisted torture of confining a human being in a small jail cell being treated like a caged animal for decades.

Do you realize that many of them are actually very afraid of death penalty? They were probably hoping for life sentence but nope! That's why they have lawyers to plea bargain for life sentence in exchange of information or guilty plea.

I hate so much that victims tend to be forgotten or ignored.
who would forget victims???? their loved ones surely won't forget them for a very long time.

I seriously doubt you truly understand what a solitary confinement can do to a man in just a week. Do you understand that what you wish for is a serious violation of basic human rights and Amendment 8th? We will be basically on same level as Chinese and Iranians as they're known for blatant human rights violations.

How exactly can an innocent man work on getting freed if he's in solitary confinement?

Do you understand that putting an innocent man in solitary confinement for a horrible crime can destroy him? He can be mentally damaged if he was confined for a few months, depending on his mental strength. If confined for a longer period of time, he will be most likely be unrepairable and he will most likely commit suicide if freed from prison when his innocence was proven. I don't think you really understand. What you wish for is equivalent to death penalty. Why? Sure you didn't kill him but you made him kill himself.

Do you have the link to the article you are referring to.. Since I am not quite understanding the crime the guy did.. Did he MAKE the child porn or did he get caught with child porn??

$$$$$ for victims? like what?

Just for an experience - you might want to try getting locked up in the room 24/7 everyday for 3 days. And then tell me it's not a torture.

btw - you won't even be able to tell if it has been 3 days because there is no clock nor watch. There's no window either.

There are windows. And for 20 hours of complete silence it's tough.

You STILL missed my point. It appears that you think they should be executed ANYWAY even if they might be innocent? If that is the case, then your damn sick too!

in case you missed my previous post - I prefer the scope of death penalty to be narrowed.

You still haven't answered my question. How can an innocent man can work on his innocence in solitary confinement?

I already answer that, the rights to appeal should remain all the way. In other word right to prove innocent should always be preserved. Many times judges do dismiss the claim and this should not happen.

I do support project innocent programs. They have helped alot innocent people getting out of prison.

you're not understanding me.

If a prisoner is in general population, he can go to library to research and call to consult with his lawyer. if he is in solitary confinement, there's nothing he can do about it except to pace around tiny room and pray that he won't lose his mind.

I do support project innocent programs. They have helped alot innocent people getting out of prison.

and I do support death penalty because they protect the society from dangerous criminals. and it gives victims' loved ones a peace of mind knowing that he won't be hurting another one.

Then I see you as murderer
and I do support death penalty because they protect the society from dangerous criminals. and it gives victims' loved ones a peace of mind knowing that he won't be hurting another one.

Not to nitpick, but doesn't prison do the same thing?

Edit: I quoted you before the second part of your sentence appeared, but it showed up, anyway. Weird. Never mind. The second part of the sentence adds a new dimension to the argument.

Prison does remove them from society for a short time. Then they are released.

So it is a bit different.

Many times when prisons are over crowded, they will pick the least dangerous offenders. Such as drug dealers and sometimes even murderers and go ahead and release them to make room for newer inmates.
