Josh Duggar resigns from Family Research Council after sexual abuse allegations

I believe that people are angry because the Duggar's are very oppionated when it comes to anything to do with sex. They must stay pure!! They can not date, they must court which means a chaperone is with the couple at all times. No kissing, side hugs only and holding hands is fine only after you have become engaged but you must still have a chapperone until the day you're married where you will finally get that "first kiss". The girls can not wear pants, only skirts or dresses and they must cover the knee. Their also not allowed to cut their hair. The girls are not allowed to go away to college. It's expected for the girls to marry young and have as many babies as possible. They even joke for the girls to beat their mom's count of 19 kids. So your on tv preaching purety yet your family is not pure there were mistakes. Maybe if this family was not on tv and preaching their ways.......then maybe it could have stayed buried. I worry about the girls this happened to.

that's of no concern to me and they're free to practice whatever the belief they want but it becomes our concern when a harm has come to a child and nothing has been dealt with it properly.

this was where you used specific terminology to make this a religious issue Jiro (just in case you forgot).

um ... yeah, there's that issue to contend with too.

because

1. you know nothing about this issue and yet you're defending him
2. you want us to drop it and move on
3. your motive is questionable and obvious
4. to restate redudantly - you state that you know nothing about this issue

This was my initial reply to the thread.

The one you replied to.

In what world do you live in where "I" made this issue a religious one? because it isn't the sane world.

I could have made it a political issue. I could have said something like "well ... at least we didn't have to have a Congressional hearing and Josh kept asking to define the word "is" ... and eventually became disbarred because there really was a cigar involved".

But ... I didn't.

you've never answered my question - do you think it's normal for teenager boys to do something this heinous like Josh Duggar?

I agree with you but I worry about the girls that Josh violated. Seems like a lot of energey was spent saving Josh making sure nothing would happen to him. What did the girls get in the way of help?

The Duggar Scandal

Ex-state trooper: Jim Bob Duggar lied and told me his son had molested only one girl
A former state trooper said Jim Bob Duggar – a one-time friend of his – lied when he brought his teenage son to him to discuss molestation claims, according to reports.

The reality show star said he took his eldest son, Josh Duggar, to meet with Joseph Hutchens, then an Arkansas state trooper and now serving a 56-year prison term for child pornography, a year after learning the teen had molested his sisters and at least one other girl.

But Hutchens said the patriarch of the “19 Kids and Counting” family lied to him and said the teen had molested only one girl, reported the InTouch Weekly.

“Jim Bob explained to me that Josh inappropriately touched [a victim] while she was asleep,” Hutchens told the magazine. “He said it only happened one time.”

Hutchens gave Josh Duggar “a very stern talk,” according to his father, but took no official action – but he told the magazine that he might have done more if he realized the extent of the abuse going on in the family’s home.

“I am a Christian myself, and I worry that if something else had happened, I would have been responsible,” said Hutchens, who was convicted four years later on child porn charges.

He served three years in prison but was arrested shortly after his 2010 release on four additional counts for distributing child pornography and remains in prison – where he spoke to an Arkansas lawyer on behalf of InTouch as part of an investigative report.

The magazine said nothing was promised in return to Hutchens in exchange for his cooperation.

The former law enforcement officer admits that he made the wrong decision by failing to report the child abuse to authorities – as required by law.

“I did what I thought was right, and obviously it wasn’t,” Hutchens said. “If I had to do it over again, I would have told him immediately I am going to call the hotline and contacted the trooper that worked those cases and have a full report made. I thought I could handle it myself.”

If the former state trooper’s account is accurate, legal experts say Jim Bob Duggar’s actions could amount to child endangerment.

However, the statute of limitations would have expired for prosecuting the 49-year-old Duggar for either Class D felony or Class A or B misdemeanor charges of child endangering.

His son was never prosecuted for sex abuse because the three-year statute of limitations had expired by the time other law enforcement officers found out about the case in 2006.

Did anyone watch the Duggar Interview with Fox News toniight? I think it was a good interview and I think the reporter asked all the tough questions. Duggar's made some good points and when it was done I felt I understood their position better. Friday night, Fox News is interviewing some of his sisters.

a good interview? felt convinced? I don't know about that. I've never seen the interview but I can see how people can be swayed by it into a good favor. I'm not surprised about it.

FACTS
1. Mike Huckabee used to work at Fox News
2. Fox News is known favorite cable channel for conservatives
3. Duggars Family has P.R. expert Chad Gallagher to spin the stories
4. Chad Callagher is an adviser for Huckabee and executive director of Huck PAC (which is a political committee to raise campaign money for a political candidate)
5. just to be clear - Duggar's religious view is not an issue in here. it's irrelevant and a distraction from the real issue. This issue is about a cover-up at higher level or serious legal missteps or both.

I would take their story with a very tiny grain of salt... the fact still remains that what happened back then was not handled properly and legally.

I was not swayed or convinced about anything. I mentioned that I saw the interview tonight andd I felt the reporter asked a lot of tough questions that I wanted to hear the answer to. The same reporter will be interviewing the Duggar girls on Friday evening.

Two of Josh Duggar’s victims—his sisters Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald—spoke to Megyn Kelly in the second part of her exclusive interview with the Duggar family that will air Friday on “The Kelly File” at 9 p.m. ET.

The now married sisters tell Kelly in a preview clip that they are horrified by the way their story has been told and re-told online and in the media, and Seewald speaks up in her brother's defense.

“The system that was set up to protect kids, both those who make stupid mistakes or have problems like this in their life and the ones that are affected by those choices. It’s greatly failed.”

“As parents we were trying to do the best thing we knew how,” Michelle said.

They said they were the ones who told their daughters about what Josh had done to them. They insisted repeatedly that their daughters “weren’t even aware” of the abuse that had gone on because they were sleeping when their brother touched them over their clothes.

Jiro statement is true about many pedophiles started when they were teen and many of them are not well treated. I prefer to have Josh Duggar punished more harshly because sex crime against children are bad as murder. It will force Josh Duggar to receive counseling service thorough the APA (more effective when court getting involved) and proper medical treatment.

Good point.

It's good that Josh admitted his mistake but I don't understand why he is being treat differently as everyone who commit the sex crime toward children because sex crime toward children is very serious issue.

I still don't understand.

Anyway, another subject:

He didn't get charged with anything because by the time the cops were told what he had done, the statute of limitations had run out. Too much time had passed for him to be charged. They've changed that now from what it was, but at the time they had three years from the incident for action to be taken on it. The police were not alerted until over three years had passed.

I know this is a rumor but I wouldn't be surprised if someone involved in the Duggar cult put this out to try and get a positive spin on the family.

That school mentioned, Crown College, might as well be called Clown College. It's not accredited. That means that it doesn't meet the academic standards of schools with accreditation. This particular school teaches one view of the bible, and that is the only one that is correct. They teach every single subject with a biblical perspective. Those music classes mentioned would be intertwined with the bible. Science (hah) classes, intertwined with the bible. Everything revolves around the bible. This school does not equip its students with the skills they need to function in jobs. Liberty University, another evangelical college that does not have an overall good reputation, is Harvard compared to this place.
