Iowa Wrestler Defaults Rather Than Face Girl

Im really proud for those girls who made it to state in their weight class. I think that boy who defaulted copped out in a way. Maybe afraid there was a chance his ego may be bruised if he lost? Instead, I know how I feel about him- and its not good.

Because they shouldn't be in full body contact with each other.

What's wrong with girls competing in girls' leagues, and boys competing in boys' leagues? That's how it's done in other interscholastic sports.

Because they shouldn't be in full body contact with each other.

You're just repeating yourself instead of giving me an answer. Why shouldn't they be in full body contact with each other?

How is that different from two boys engaging in full body contact sports?

I thought you were old enough to understand the reason without me having to spell it out for you.

If the girl is in the same weight class as a male opponent, I see nothing wrong with them competing in a match against each other.

This guy was just following what he believes in and I cant hold him at fault for it.

this boy-girl competition should be done at home.... not in public. There's every reason why this is wrong.

I would default. Like I said - I don't hit girls.

different gender.

I take it that you have no problem with boy-girl boxing with each other?

Because they shouldn't be in full body contact with each other...
It's in front of a lot of people. If there was anything inappropriate, wouldn't it be seen? And they both knew this going in...it's a contact sport.

which is why it's inappropriate.

In my high school hockey team, we had a girl. When she got checked and it wasn't pretty, my captain took it very personal and he sought him out. He did an illegal check and sacked him... WWF style, dude...

So it's for sexual reasons then? How would that be different if one of the boys was gay?

They signed up for it. So...

cuz there was no rule on gender issue. They should create a rule now because of lack of common sense...

Well, they were the first bunch of girls to qualify in all these years. They signed up, they knew what they were getting into.

*shrugs*

I don't see a problem here. People know what they are getting into when they sign up for these types of sporting events.

nobody expected opposite genders till now. time to create a rule!

At one time, it was thought that women should stay home and raise a family.

This is another challenge to a traditionally male-dominated area.

Sure, women should have their own teams for contact sports.

What this does is show there is a need for it. Sometimes showing a need for it can upset traditionally held values. It has to start somewhere.

Has anyone died yet? There is no reason to establish any guidelines unless there has been a considerate number of serious injuries and deaths.

This is gymnastic wrestling we are talking about, not some silly and intense WWE event where people get smacked in the head with metal chairs.

They knew what they were getting into when they signed up for it. So...

That's another topic. No rabbit trails please. The question was about girl and boy wrestlers.

It's my belief that it's totally inappropriate for girls and boys to be clutching each other's bodies as a public sport.

I applaud any young man who respects young ladies enough to not participate in such activity.

Are you saying that the boys knew that they would be wrestling with girls when they signed up for the team?

WTG, Reba!

Well, I had to ask because you're still not answering my question. What else is new?

Typical.
