I was attacked at McDonald's today

wow! what a story! oh man! i am sure that lady is old mind that can be crazy like high ride emotion! rme!

OMG Shel! I am glad that she didn't attack you or your son to cause any serious harms. The training you did yearly has certainly helps no matter how boring it can be but its still very useful. I also was train to walk away from anybody who is an ugly mood and go to a safe area. That was part of a course I did many years ago. I am glad she is in the hand of the police officers and they can take care of her.

Wow, your lucky...

It happened to me once; I was driving and I just moved my car in other lane in the freeway but, I assumed that man got mad at me for cut him off since he's very speeding up which I was only going 75 mph that freeway. Somehow, he caught up with me and started yelling at me with his hands, I was puzzled and saw him swearing at me and yelled at me with his expression face, I could tel that hes very anger with me so I was focus on the road and ingored him, but he kept move around my car with his car to making anything to cause me to getting in car accident, I told myself to be calm down calm down until he got behind up me and I decided to speed up to around 100 mph as I could but he did chase after me, I just continue speed up until I saw policeman and I pray for him to comup to me because I went 100 mph but policeman did chase after me for speed up but that man ran off so policeman pulled me over, i explained to him what happened in the note even I did give my time to write down that man's license plate and what kind car and etc like that, he thank me for that and I don't know what happened to that man when I told policeman. so Im safe... That is really scared me to death.

damn! speeding up 100mph is a pretty bad idea... putting yourself into bigger danger but it's a dire situation so only you can judge it. You really did luck out that police happened to be there. No ticket, right? <cross fingers>

Nope, i didnt get a ticket. I know its bad idea but what should I do? Let him hit me? or stop at somewhere so he can hurt me? Only way is speeding up to find something get me? Sucks eh?

Shel, wow!! You should get a medal for handling the situation very well! Yup, sounds like the lady was mentally disturbed to start with. Hope you feel better soon.. hugs!

OMG! Thank Heaven's for your training. I am so glad that you kept a level head, and handled the situation the way you did. I know that had to be so frightening, especially with Nathan with you. I'm so glad that everything turned out all right. Given Nathan a hug for me, too. That had to scare him half to death!

What the...? Did someone call my name? :eek3:

Nope, i didnt get a ticket.
WHEW!!! :cool2:

I know its bad idea but what should I do? Let him hit me? or stop at somewhere so he can hurt me? Only way is speeding up to find something get me? Sucks eh?
exactly... that's why i said only you can judge the best course of action for yourself since this was a dire situation. I'm assuming that it was a very long stretch of highway and there were no nearby exit to turn to. You did the best you can. That's all it matters. The best part was that you jotted down his license plate AND you didn't get any ticket.

next time this happens.... a few things to keep in mind -
1. Obviously - your first & utmost priority is the safety of yourself and the passengers
2. If there are ANY nearest exit - go there and find ANY busy, well-lit area such as gas station, service area, and shopping mall. If you arrived at parking lot with people around and the asshole's still on you - LOCK all doors, close windows and HONK loudly to gain attention.
3. if there are NO nearest exit and it's a very long stretch of road - pick up the cellphone and dial 911. I know you can't hear but just dial 911 and say anything. Most likely your cellphone is equipped with GPS and 911 dispatcher will know where you are. Just yell - "HELP. I AM DEAF AND I NEED HELP! I AM ON INTERSTATE ---. PASSING MARKER 323" keep repeating the message. If you need to use both hands on steering wheel - just put the cell phone onto seat and keep the line open so that 911 dispatcher can continue to trace you.
4. if there are other drivers around you, HONK HONK HONK to gain attention.
5. Read AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety - Road Rage if you like.....
How to Avoid Becoming a Victim

Our survey information indicates that the great majority of people (96 percent) have not found that the road rage incidents have affected their confidence to drive. However, women and motorists aged 55-64 were the groups most likely to say that the last incident had affected their confidence. It must be stressed that the chances of any driver becoming the victim of a violent road rage attack are very small. The risks of driving alone can be exaggerated -- be sensible about your safety but don't be afraid to drive on your own. However, if you feel threatened by another motorist, the following gives advice on how to defuse the situation or protect yourself:

¥ If you're being hassled by another driver, try not to react. Avoid making eye contact, as this is often seen as confrontational. Don't be tempted to accelerate, brake, or swerve suddenly; again, this may be seen as confrontational and increases your chances of losing control of your vehicle.

¥ If a driver continues to hassle you or you think you are being followed, drive on to the nearest police station or busy place to get help.

¥ In town, lock the car doors and keep the windows and sunroof only partly open.

¥ When stopped in traffic, leave enough space to pull out from behind the car you are following.

¥ If someone tries to get into your car, attract attention by sounding your horn or a personal alarm.

¥ Do not be tempted to start a fight and do not be tempted to carry any sort of weapon. It may only provoke a potential assailant and could end up in his or her hands.

what i'd like to suggest is that when you speed like that and you saw a cop ahead of you.... HONK and flash your light... so that way - he'll think something's wrong and you need help instead of thinking you're a crazy driver. No need to drive past him. Just stop and park near him.

**it is not good idea to speed up to 100mph because any sudden slight change of direction or a physical bumping to your car can cause your car to EASILY lose control which can lead to roll-over. again... maybe it is good idea... maybe not... only you can decide the best course of action.**

lastly... get a gun. j/k... no really - don't get one.
(btw - I checked your profile and you reside in Michigan. According to its gun law, it is a gun-friendly state. To be more specifically - "Michigan is a traditional open carry state. Open carry is more common in rural areas. You may NOT open carry in a car without a permit. However, Michigan recognizes the resident permits of all 50 states." (opencarry.org)

Woah! It is good to know you are ok. But, I am glad to know that she was apprehended quickly. It makes me wonder what was she thinking... Maybe she was on drugs or something...

Yikes Shel90,

It is a good thing you did think calm way and also think of your kid's safety too.

I hope everything gonna be fine for you now. :)

Hopefully that woman will get charged.

I am glad you are ok as long as she don't use a gun to shoot you. You're lucky to have someone to assist you. That's more safer.

Wow. At least you did proper things by protecting your beloved kid first, getting in a public place like McDonalds and having cops charged the lady. She deserved for what she did to you and the police officer whom she assaulted.

I am glad that you both are okay and safe.

SHel90, I am glad you and son are okay. That was very scary to read.

Last night, I was still upset and still thinking about it so I went thru my old high school photos and put them on my FB and joked with my former classmates via FB about the big 80s. I felt better afterwards. Now, I am ok about it. I was starting to get a little anxiety from it last night when I realized what could have happened if I didnt take the action I did. Scary thoughts!

OH MY GAWD!!!!! :eek3:

I'm glad you knew something isn't right and got inside McD's with your son for the protection. Otherwise if you had gotten in the car, she may have chase after you or whatever. I'm glad you used a very good judgment and made the right decision. I would have done the same thing if that happens. Wow that is so scary! I'm glad that you pressed the charges against you because it's an aggravation assault on you since she slammed the door on you.

Yea...all I could think was "Get to a safe place" and my SUV wasnt a safe place at the time.

What... the... fuck?? That lady is... messed up. Wow. Good thing you took a self defense class. I'm really glad no harm came to you or your son. I'm so... appalled by this freakin woman. It's good that you are pressing charges.

Thanks! I will forever be appreciative of the behavior specialists at my work for making all staff take this workshop every year. :giggle:
