I feel like I'm the youngest here!!

We have our crosses to bear...(although I'm sure you're carrying around something else, since you're Hindu :) )

Your parents sound really "cool"...

They are, I am so serious, We are a traditional Hindu family, but they are not so conservative, they are quite open minded, there are instances where they will give you a blunt NO for an answer, but like I know most Hindu families wouldn't like their girls to go abseiling etc, they would term those girls as being wild, but my dad said, go for it, its cool!!

Yeah, I have an AUM ( our auspicious sign) It looks like the attached! My parents bought it for me when I was little, and even though their are various models and more fancier designs, I still keep my simple one!!

My parents are somewhat strict, but I don't get in trouble, so we get along fine!

And thank you for showing me a picture of what you're carrying around...

Same story with me, I think my poor brother gets into more scolding than I ever do, the amount of scolding, he gets in one day, I get in one year!!

Its always my pleasure, I love talking about my religion, for interest sake, our books say that creation started with the sound of AUM, which is the picture you are seeing!!

I'm sure your brother will follow your example...eventually!

I'll say this: AUM...beats "And He said, let there be light!".

If he does...I swear I will go to the temple and offer a coconut!! LOL!!

Yeah, I liked reading about the beginnings of creation, where God made people in his form, etc...That has always been of an interest to me!!

Aum...the cosmic sound of Aum, is like saying Our Father who art in heaven!!

Yes...creation stories are interesting, but stay away from the Norse ones! Norse creation stories are violent and kind of gross (according to them, people came from their gods' sweat)...

LOL...Fyborg, when we go to the temple, we offer fruit, sweetmeats, incenses, coconuts...well, my parents have always said, if you bust a coconut and water comes from it, its good for you, and if its not good, then its either rotten, etc...so when we go to temple, my mother goes looking for a coconut, and she literally shakes it up to see if theres water in it!! LOL!!

Yeah, I agree, some people have weird versions of creation, but they have the right to believe what they want!!

I know someone said to me, creation started because a mysterious planet collided with earth, and some people popped into Earth...well, what an amazing imagination I must say!!

Your mother wants to get her money's worth...and make a good offering...

People do have odd definitions of "creation"...although I've never heard of people falling off another planet on to Earth!

True that, she never sends my dad to buy them, because he just picks the first one he can lay his hands on...LOL!!

Well, I have heard some more weird ones...

My dad, whenever he goes grocery shopping (which is rarely, thank goodness) just cannot pick fresh fruit! He just grabs the ones on the top!

Well...that's a given...there are always weirder stories out there...like aliens creating the human race...
