I am getting my first audiogram done in over 10 years.

No, but your sarcasm clearly shows that you are anti-CI even for adults who choose it for themselves.

not really, especially since Dixie was just talking about getting aids, what PFH, or what it looks like to me, was trying to do was to bring up what society does to us, tells us that we are broken, and the only way to really "fix" us is surgery that has a lot of risks and isn't necessarily actually going to give people access to spoken language. He was bringing up soiciety's view that the only way we can be "right" is to have an implant...to conform to the hearing world... or at least that is what I see. PFH has never told an adult that an implant is the wrong choice (or at least not from what I have seen), yes he has informed people of the potential side effects, and warned them not to get their hopes up too much... but never from what I have said told them they were bad for doing it... just as he has never told me that I am bad for wearing HAs...

Doubt it due to insurance reasons and I'm sure you have to be a current employee to get the results. Tyson is pretty strict about stuff like this.

Wow! I really do not see what harm it could do, it is just a hearing test result.
That is not bad.

Um, ok. Whatever.

Can you show how I am anti-CI?

It only works as sarcasm if it is something so ridiculous as to be clearly a joke. Something that you would obviously never actually say.

So, which is it? Were you being sarcastic or were you actually recommending an implant to someone?

Do you people really need to follow deaf people around and come in and bother someone looking into getting a hearing aid and take any jokes and try to start a fight??

I would think you could just spend your time promoting CI for your kid and others and leave us deaf adults alone!

Oh gosh just give it up!

He was having fun.

Party pooper.

Good Luck

Dixie, I was in the same position ..no audi in 9 years...and am getting hearing aid next month..there is a chance Voc. Rehab. will pay since they see it as giving you an advantage of getting that job...I hope all goes well for you,, hearing aid or not...you get that job !!! Good Luck with everthing!!
(My reference to Voc. Rehab. paying is in no way saying that the hearing aid does or does not help in job opportunities, just that it may be an option for payment)...Midnight * I think it's sad that someone who is deaf refers to other deaf (at any level) as "you people."

Why is it fun? As a person who chose a CI, he is mocking my choice, implying that it is unacceptable. Why is that OK? What if I went into a thread about a deaf person discovering and learning ASL and posted a sarcastic remark that implied that they wouldn't need ASL if they got an implant? You guys would chase me out with pitchforks and torches. But PFH can denigrate those who chose implants without any sort of retribution, and as soon as someone points it out, they are vilified instead.

He and Dixie are friends so he was just having fun with her. Nothing to do with you or other CI users. He has a best or a very close friend IRL who is a CI user. Dixie knows PFH likes to joke around with her and as do most of us.

I was not being sarcastic.. or being serious.. I was ... get this... joshing around.

I still stand by my belief that a CI is not necessary.

After all, this is America. You have the freedom to feel butt hurt, or take it as a humor and move along.

You nailed it.

You trying to pick on me again?? Snort. I would never refer to any other deaf person as "you people."

Just referring to your response to Deafguy earlier today. He is a deaf person who made a choice. I don't pick on ppl, I was voicing my opinion, much like everyone else does.

Happy to hear you were not discriminating. Smile.Midnight

*laughing* You are sadly misinformed. *peace*

People who read the profile comments you have a habit of making may disagree with your assesment. *giggle* Darn brain....

Getting a CI is to up the person and what work for one person may not work for the next person. people should not be telling others to get a CI or HA , that is no one business.

PFH's comment regarding the CI was in humor. I probably should have had a reply that reeked of sarcasm and wit such as:

OMG Really? You think so? That's like the BEST idea everrrrrrr!

But alas, I didn't and things got misinterpreted. So yes Shel nailed it when she explained that PFH and I are friends and that I understand that he was joking and NOT serious.

I've spoken my piece on the matter for now.

The only excuse I can see for you obvious attempt at making my comments about peace and my brain injury laughable, is ignorance. It appears you have no problem "picking on people". Midnight

You seem to be trying to start a little smear campaign here just as you did with The Write Alex and Jillio previously.

You are more of an annoyance than anything.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I sincerely dislike you and the way you go around private messaging and posting visitor messages to put down the people you decide to victimize.

Well one more day and it's audie time.

Me and a friend were chatting about how I could possibly wing it on Wednesday, but if things go wrong, they can go seriously wrong.

Here's the plan, go the Russellville unemployment office in weee hours of the morning, be the first in line for the application process. Hope and pray I get done by no later than 10 am, then make a flying trip to Ft. Smith on I-40 to get to the Audie by 12:30. While at the unemployment office, I could ask to have the Tyson interview scheduled very late in the day or for the following afternoon due to the doctor's appointment. It's an hour and half drive to Ft. Smith from here.

OR plan B, which I think I already discussed in another thread.

Either way, I need the audiogram to determine further care if any. Hopefully on Wednesday we will find out something. Luckily, there is 3G in Ft. Smith, so I'll be able to post here pretty quickly what I find out.
