Hurricane Hanna

current inbound flow max winds from center of circulation is 67 mph. I does look better organized by observation so rain bands maybe more severe with risk of tornado development within these bands as they come through the coast of Ga, SC, and NC.

My area is now under a tropical storm warning....the clouds are starting to move in but still generally sunny..

yeah, those waters in the Chesapeake bay could get pretty choppy and nasty. Probably rain amounts will be worse effects than the wind.

I live 2 miles from the Chesapeake Bay..I am concerned about flooding..going to watch the news in 15 mins to see what's up.

I don't think that level of Chesapeake or storm surge will be terrible with the direction storm is coming in, but I believe the Tropical/ Gale storm warnings will come to fruition there and risk of tornadoes with the rain bands scare me for Washington, Maryland and most of eastern seaboard

Hmm... statistically, I wonder which hurricanes were worse than the other based on female and male names. :dunno:

Hanna has left da building. It was a boring storm. Nothing much happened, nothing to be afraid of, just some rain and a little wind...*sighs*...i slept peacefully thru it all and woke up to see the big bright sun.

My basement has a water problem and getting 6 inces of rain (if that happens) in one day is gonna be problematic for us. Not only that, we have to worry about power outages....

When Isabelle hit us as a weak Cat 1 hurricane or a strong tropical storm, power outages were so widespread and lasted for a week.

Now we are preparing for IKE, I hope he don't beat us bad like he beat Tina. But God has been good!!

According to this list...

South Florida weather from Sun-Sentinel.com

Over 2/3 of the 30 Costliest U.S. Hurricanes were made by hurricanes named after women.

I guess that goes to prove that women cost us too much money. ;)

 Yeah, what deafdave said! Hmm, maybe the stats are skewed because these storms were given feminine names for years before male names began to be used???

I remember Isabelle in 2003, thank heavens it weaken somewhat when got near east coast, it was major hurricane for many days out over the open sea.

With approching frontal boundry combining with the moisture from Hannah, I wouldn't doubt for a minute 6 inches is very possible there. Is there anything u can do to help the basement flooding problem or preventing it? If you have anything on floor, get it off very soon, especially if its of value. Sorry Shel

Hanna is toward to GA, SC and NC now. Hanna didn't hit in Florida yet.

Yet? I dont think Hanna will turn and go in the opposite direction towards Florida. She is not going to hit Florida.

Yea, we plan on working on that 2nite..FUN! NOT!

Thanks!

Will this include the use of a submersible pump, Shel?

My husband has me confused..he said our pump is broken and that it would cost $7,000 to replace it. When I mentioned that to my coworkers today, they were like no way so I paged asking my hubby for clarification. He said it would cost that much for a new system so I asked him if we can replace the sump pump and he said no, cuz we need a new system. I am waiting for him to get home to ask him in person instead of thru pager because we keep confusing each other. If a sump pump is not too expensive and can be easily replaced then we are buying one tonight. I have moola in my savings for that purpose.
