Sometimes rumor started with innocent correct information. Because no two person have exact same understanding of spoken language. Does that means that the next person is lying? I don't necessarily agree with that. What it really means is that misunderstand can occur. All based on other person's perspective of that sentence.
I had play in "Gossip game" WOW! It is unbelieveable. The objective of this game to see if the original conversation will be the same when it comes back. How this works? Okay, there were circle of about 25 deafies. The first person on the circle had piece of paper, showing it to the next person. Then the next person reads it and whisper to the next person, then the next person hears and whisper to the next person, this goes around to the end of the circle. The last person writes down the sentence what he heard from the previous person. Then the host showed everybody what the first paper said. Then showed the last paper. Both were TOTAAAAALLLLLYYYYY Different!!! Way way way off the point. Everybody freaked out and wondering how this could have happened.
Also, this applies to witness as well. Witness aren't always realiable no matter what! Even in the court room, the witness weights only 10% of the evidence. That is because witness never really saw everything in details. So in one of college, there were sort of experiment that shows the Criminal justice major student why witness were never realiable. Right before the professor announced that he is doing an experiment. There was two people barged in classroom and argued with each other. Everybody was confused with wahts really going on. Then these two people left abruptly. The professor proceed with lecture for about 10 minutes about the witness issues. Then he said here is pop test, asking student to write down what they saw and hear these two people barged and fight and left, in details. To everybody's surprise NO two student have exact same description what they saw!!! The professor is trying to prove that witness is NOT always realiable. That is why I don't rely in witness all the time. Or hear the news from the mouth.

So, rumor is not always based on lie, they were often based on misunderstand.

Ah, wish it is true. I lived in a different state for 10 years. When I came back to my home state, people were still talking about me and the info was 10 years old!! :squint: Guess they have nothing better to say, so used my name to gain their popularities.

Unfortunately, that is Deaf culture tending to stenotype to talk about the past about you or other people. High statistic Deaf people who live on SSDI, they have no life to talk about other people’s back. I do not associate with people who have low life. It is not worth for you to be upset or angry. We all of us need to move on with our new life for our health’s sake.

I ingore them and focus on my own life and family. It helps me alot to move on with my life. I look up present and future as positive. I enjoy my new life every moment. :D Find a new friends makes you feel more comfortable and trust them.

Your post was in April 2004. You said that you feel that you have much less problems with your hearing friends. You feel that you had so many problems with your deaf friends. That's sad. I really pity your deaf friends who were unkind to you and I pity you too.

Really....hearing people do cause their hearing friends miserable. Deaf and hearing people are the SAME. Either way - maybe your deaf friends are not happy so it could be the reason why for your deaf friends to cause problems with you. I have many wonderful deaf friends and I did not find them as you mentioned about your deaf friends. I'm really sorry that you happened in this kind of group of your deaf friends. Obviously, you were in the bad luck group of deaf people. OR your behaviors or attitudes could affect your deaf friends like you think you are really smart, have a better life than them, it can cause your deaf friends to feel hurt so it could cause them to have problems with you. I never say this is for sure. It could be the reason why. If that is true, try to change your attitudes toward to your deaf friends. If you are very friendly, kind, etc to your deaf friends (not an oralist), then it's your deaf friends who caused problems. Maybe they are really sad about their life like they are trying to cope with their deafness, frustrate in many ways in their life like jobs, communicate with hearing people and families, etc. God knows their harships. I know it is SO HARD on you and others.

Hearing and deaf people are the SAME - not only deaf people. Sometimes, hearing people are so awful. Sometimes, deaf people are so awful. Really, they are the same.

I will pray for you and your deaf friends. Take care!:)

Hon, I don't see a point where u had to say this, we all know false rumors and lie are untrue, but this is not what this thread is really about, if you can go back on page one and read the entire post then you will understand why I create this thread, if you want to keep being disrespecting, then do it elsewhere cause I'm not up to it Eternity....

Yeah, this is what I did... I just don't have time for their craps.. I only see them - once a year or two at ASL Fest or Deaf Fest. When I do see them, I just walk away..

I am sorry I disagree with your post, Not only those people who are on SSDI, are the ones who talk about people behind their back, The deaf world is very small and they easy spread rumors even false ones, Some don't have a guts to go up to the person's face and say it to their face, instead they had to created threads in another forums and spread false rumors. I'm sure you know what I'm saying Sabrina. :whistle:

Cheri is so correct about this.

Gossip knows no ethnic boundaries, social boundaries, salary, sexual orientation and so on. Gossip thrives because busybodies' minds became too idle and/or jealousy always rears its' ugly head.

There were rumors spreading about Bill Clinton that he had
affairs with many many women, Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, and
Monica...
Bill Clinton, he lied (perjury) in court and then admitted it and cheated on his wife Hilary but still people forgave Bill Clinton and he is still people favorite because he is a democrat.

I think being a good samaritan really kill the rumors.

So if your enemies are spreading rumors about you,
then you have to somehow be a good samaritan,
build up your reputation as a good person.
Then you have more friends and
your enemies will be alone and feel bitter.

Where are Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, and Monica now?
It seems they don't exist anymore... they thought
they had the power to defeat Bill Clinton, but he proved them wrong,
he is stronger than ever and more famous. :D
 
I got a letter from my British friend today. I was like :confused: after read her letter saying that the rumor spread out in London that I am dead of bronsiltities. Huh? She stops the rumor telling them that I´m alive and still suffer bronsilties, that´s all. She don´t understand why the rumor spread out misunderstand since she mentioned my name to few people in converstion that I´m ill etc...

I began think it´s funny because it spreads misunderstand real fast... :D

Thats why I usually avoid deaf community, but show up for good reasons such as bowling league potluck or superbowl...

:gossip: belongs to deaf clubs, thats why I haven't been to Thompson Hall in little over 4 years until last saturday.

If people gossip to me here in MN, I would say "Go to Thompson Hall, that what gossip is for"... some people calls Thompson Hall "The Gossip House" or "Rumor Mill"....
