I know, it's the special "No Idea" Hardening Cream. You woulda thought Forged Steel was tough. Sears has nothing on this.

umm......my father told me I had the best surgeon possible when I had the surgery about 17 years ago in Houston, TX. And the man was 60 years old at that time. :P

But if I must be re-implanted in the future....I would do it. I don't think I can live without my CI, especially that I like to talk and hear things....and on the path to whatever I want to be in the future. ^_^

There have been 500 reports sent to the FDA regarding CI's, they do not all result in explants, and many are follow ups about reports that had been filed previously.

That is what I seriously call 'messing with someone's brain matter'. But that's just my opinion.

EEEWWWW sounds gross! However, I believe the CI surgery doesnt touch the brain anyway.

Thought there would be some bites on that one :-p - notice the inverted commas please. I'm 'playing' on another thread here. Still, I wouldn't want any surgeon messing with my head.

Posts From Hell, I wonder if a lot of the explants may be on medically fragile people? I know they started implanting kids with medical complexities or who are medically fragile.

that is very scared!! serious risk!! !

As a matter of interest-how many were the total implantations of which this "500"is a part?

BTW, people, I don't recall in any of my posts using the terms 'brain surgery' in regards to CIs. I have mentioned intrusive surgery. Never said 'brain surgery'. Cochlear Implant is exactly that.....Implant in the Cochlear, not Implant in the Brain. I used the words 'messing with someone's brain matter' in referal to an article that reads like a lot of 'guinea-pig' nonsense and all the bolded statements in reference to the brain.

:)

No, plenty of people call it brain surgery.

That's actually a good point, because it seems the explants in that time would comprise a big percentage.

Well your previous response hinted that you may have been inclined to think I fell into that category. I don't profess to know everything but I always check myself out with research before I post. If I don't feel I know enough about a subject I would not venture to debate on it. Some things are just a play on what it appears to the general public. You get the boxing gloves out a little too soon in my opinion. The whole purpose of this forum is to educate people about Deafness and deaf-related technology, to debate but not to have a war between 'sides'.
