I think something is wrong with the CI processor that I have been wearing, and I need to wear my back-up processor but I can't put it together!!! I have been trying for the last half hour to put the 2 parts together. I don't know why, I am able to put the processor that I have been wearing since my activation together with no problem but I can't put my back-up processor and I am upset!!!

My audiologist was able to put the back-up processor together last week, so why can't I do that now?!

I am calling my audiologist first thing in the morning but I won't be able to see her til maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and I want to be able to wear my back-up until then! :(

I am about ready to cry.

I am not firmiliar with the BTE set up. But I am looking at the pic. on the cover of the owner info books. I assume you are having trouble with the processor connecting to the controller?

Yeah, there's like a bunch of gold/copper-colored things in a group that looks like a star and I have to line them up to put the 2 pieces together and I am unable to do that with my back-up like I can with the usual processor that I had been wearing since my activation.

OK, I have my daughters CI in front of me. I found the BTE controller. ANd I am gonna mess with it a bit. But, I assume the BTE Controller goes on the same way as the Body worn. Hang on. Im gonna mess with it. I just need to figure out the right way of explainig it

Got it!
Hold the processor in your left hand, with it turned on its side with the ear hook facing away from you and the coil wire facing you. Do this and let me know when ya got it that way.

You are probably having trouble with it because it is new. Its never been connected so it is tight.

Sorry for delay in responding, slow stuff.
anyway, Look at the "star" thing on the bottom of the processor. If you look closely, you will see the round circular area around the star has 3 tabs sticking out of the circle.
Now look at the top of the controller. You will see the other star looking thing. If you look close, you will see three cu outs of the circle area around the star. You must line them up so the cut outs in the circle wround the star on the controller will go over the tabs on the circle on the processor. Whe you do that and press them together, you should be able to turn the controller to the right on the processor.

I finally was able to put the thing together...

Let me know if that helps. If not, say so. I am waiting for you to get it together before I go to bed. (no pressure)
I can try other ways of explaining it.

Not sure. I just put on my backup processor and I don't like the way it's sounding. I'm scared something may be wrong with the internal piece. I was fine up til yesterday. I'm very frustrated!

Thank you for your help, though, Lillys Dad. I appreciate it very much!

I dont know if I can help with that. I dont know what they sound like so I dont know. Ya might check to see if it is a different program, or vol level. Did ya hit the telecoil switch by chance again? HAHAHa Just kidding. If you can't figure it out, try the manuals that it came with.

I gotta get to bed. Gotta go to work in the AM. At least we got ya past one hurdle.

Yeah, its not the telecoil like I originally thought. Things are TOO loud, I don't like the way things sound. Everything was just fine til yesterday. I am back to P1 and its still TOO loud, I have it on volume 1 and still too loud. I'm just gonna have to see my audiologist ASAP. Thanks for your efforts, though. Goodnight!

It could be that your brain is protesting against the volume of the sound and needs more time to adjust after being so dormant to sound for so long. A couple of maps I found too loud and then I asked the audie to turn it down, which she did. Sound tolerance is built up over time - I think that if I were to have one of my first maps now I'd find it way too quiet. I remember I couldn't even hear cars to start off with.

I hope your audie is able to get you to a more comfortable level ASAP.
