HELP! I cannot get a digital ID for GMAIL!!!

I am posting this thread in the general forum so that everyone can see this as this is the most frequent section of AllDeaf. This is extremely important. MODS - I would really appreciate it very much if you keep it here in the general forum at least for now until I am able to figure this out. Thank you in advance.

I didn't have this issue until now. I tried to email my sister but when I hit send I was told I needed to get a digital ID in order to email my own sister. Fuck. I really need to email my sister and I do not have the time to search all over the internet for a nonexistant digital ID for gmail. And I refuse to get a new email address at a different ISP because I hate all except gmail. I hate yahoo. I hate AT&T. I hate sbcglobal.net. I hate hotmail. I hate msn. I will only use Gmail, period. I was able to email her yesterday using the same gmail address I tried to send her email with just now. And the email is too long for me to use tmail on my sidekick. I cannot type all that shit on my puny little keyboard. No way. I also WILL NOT switch email providers for some dumb digital ID especially if I never send sensitive information through the email - only the dumbest person on earth would actually send sensitive information through email (such as bank info, etc). We are only talking about our childhood. I know absolutely nothing about digital ID as I never send sensitive stuff through the email (such as bank info, credit card numbers, etc - the person who does deserves a darwin award). I've never ever been asked to get a digital ID until now, and it is totally wasting my time. I've been trying for the last hour to get a digital ID but have been unsuccessful.

Now, I really need to email my sister NOW. Please, help me figure out how to get the damn digital ID ASAP. My sister is in the military - the Navy - if that's important - so I am not going to waste time with this bullshit, I've already googled all over the internet and it was of no help at all. The website that Outlook Express sent me to get the digital ID is non-existant. I am beyond frustrated.

I need to email my sister RIGHT NOW. Seriously.

Please, do you have any info on how to get a digital ID for my gmail (it has to be GMAIL, period!) I use Outlook Express. I will not install anything that costs me money just to get a stupid digital ID, I don't have that kind of money.

Can I get a certificate for my Hotmail/Yahoo account?
Unfortunately Web-based mail like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, MSN or AOL are not S/MIME compatible and so cannot be used with a Personal Email Certificate. In order to secure your mail you must setup your mail and install the personal certificate in a mail client that can support S/MIME like Outlook, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger.

Alternatively you would have to configure your email client on your PC (i.e. Outlook Express) to access your Web based account with the correct username, password, POP settings

I wonder if you could use your gmail on to your outlook express, that way you can use digital ID from outlook express. (not sure if this will works)
 
I'd say get online and get to gmail directly. mail.google.com should do it. Maybe it's an issue with your Outlook. I've never had to have a digital ID when I use gmail online.

Hmm, I'm googling around to find about digital ID. As I never used digital ID for gmail.

For outlook express where you can get Digital ID. "Tools, option and click on security tab" Click on "get Digital ID", perhaps ya might find a Digital ID for gmail through there. I haven't used Outlook Express for years.

First of all c a l m d o w n . You're getting all fired up over a small issue. More than likely this Digital ID is a scam for you to give personal information out to an unknown 3rd party. Where did this Digital ID Notification come from?

Did you try resending it as you normally would?

Did you reboot your computer?

If this is urgent communication is for an emergency, then email is probably not the best way to go, she may be away from her computer for training excercises, and may even be away for several days. If this is an urgent message to your sister, you might need to place a relay call to her station, and don't get mad and frustrated at the suggestion. Remember the best solution in any case is to remain c a l m . You might not get in touch with her straight away, but they can pull her aside and give her the message from home that is urgent. And please please, make sure this is an actual urgency such as a death in the family, an immediate family member has been in a traumatizing accident, or if an immediate family member has been suffering from cancer and has just recently been labelled terminal. I think those are the only reasons the military would grant a pass off post so quickly.

Tried that, and it sent me to a website that is non-existent, like I said in my first post.

First off, do not EVER tell me to calm down, ever. It will only piss me off more.

The dumb digital ID came from outlook express, but the email that my sister has, is through the military.

Of course I tried to resend it many time, only to be told every time that it cannot be sent unless I got a digital ID.

Oh geez, you have no idea why it is so fucking important that I contact my sister. You know absolutely nothing about her except that she is in the military. I have to know where she is at all times because of her being in the military. I want to make sure she is in the USA when I feel I need to know where she is, ok? Obviously you do not have family in the military. I was NOT asking for some pass off post for her. I just needed to know WHERE she is, ok, and that is quite important to me. You obviously feel it isn't important that I know where my sister is, and that's quite insulting. Our family is so fucked up, that we are all scattered all around the country. Last time, we completely lost track of each other and did not see nor hear from each other in a really long time. I do not want that to happen again. Do you not understand, she is my SISTER? You obviously do not understand how much we care for each other. Just the other day my sister tried to email my grandmother but my grandmother lost internet service so both I and my sister were all worried and trying to touch with our grandmother to make sure she was okay, we eventually was able to get in touch with her and she is, fortunately, ok. You may know the story of my childhood, but you absolutely know NOTHING about what happened to our entire mother's side of the family in the last 100 years so you just do not get it.

It does NOT have to be an emergency, just my sister being my sister is good enough for the email to be so fucking urgent, ok? I do not need her to come home or anything, I just needed to get in touch with her about something, ok. You obviously do not get it. She does NOT need to be granted a leave at all. Geez. You're making an ass out of u and me.

I have ALREADY said that I cannot use tmail for this one because this is a LONG email. It would kill my thumbs to type all that shit. Like I said already, NO FUCKING WAY.

Obviously you and all the others did not read my first post all the way through.

And I even said I am only using Gmail, no other email addresses, period.

oh ok. well just saying that it would help if you make a shorter post. lot of us have "ADD" and short-term memory in us so we can't really remember what we read in your novel-like post.

it's very strange that you cannot access to gmail directly in your internet browser. Try clearing out your cache.
 
Please, for all of you that post in this thread, PLEASE GIVE ME ACTUAL USEFUL INFORMATION. Please do not suggest shit that I have ALREADY said in my FIRST POST that I have ALREADY TRIED.

Because you all are suggesting shit that I have said I have ALREADY TRIED, and I also have said one thing that I CANNOT DO - the tmail because the keyboard on the sk3 would kill my thumbs for the long email.

try emailing long post to your tmail and then forward it to your sister
 
OK, Gmail been down today...its working now for me.

Geez, my first post wasn't even that long.

I can access gmail in firefox just fine, I just CANNOT get the damned digital ID both while accessing gmail in the internet browser and while using outlook express. I prefer to use gmail through the outlook express, because internet is slow here. How would clearing my caches get me a digital ID? That absolutely makes no sense.
