Health Care to "control the people"

Again, you cannot apply that to the rest of the country. It is applicable only to NY.

and I say same to your previous post -
I have read your post, and also read your link. It does not, in any way, dispute what I am saying.

My homework was done years ago by working in the system and seeing how many people are turned away.

Oh, I see. You have personally gone out and talked to the homeless and questioned them on their motivation?
no but that's what I observed when I was waiting at bus stop. Lip-Reading comes in handy.

The fact of the matter is, there are not enough shelters to care for all of the homeless.
right but there are still handful. There are not enough teachers, doctors, police, jobs, etc. for all people either.

some wants shelter. some doesn't want it. some gets turned away due to full capacity or failure to meet the criteria. that's life.

yep. plenty of that in NYC and DC. Church property is a sanctuary where police cannot tell them to go away. They'll be gone before sun's up.

The churches here also take meals to the homeless that won't stay. The City of Fort Worth actually complained about this. They want churches to coordinate with the City so that the city won't waste resources.

That is my whole point. You cannot make a statement that is general and applies to the entire homeless population based on limited experience or a selective population.

majority of homeless are in major cities. I think that general statement I posted pretty much applies to all major cities.

My post supports all of our posts.

Sorry, dear Jiro. It does not even apply to all cities. It applies only to NYC alone. Generalizing that which cannot be generalized is exactly where people make mistakes in applying information, therefore being wrongly informed.

No, someone else's interpretation of a very limited research does not support your posts that there are sufficient services to assist the homeless in all of the U.S.

Makes sense. I thought you were all about not wasting government resources...whether they are federal, state, or city.:hmm:

so is there anything you can show me other than your words that would dispute my post otherwise?

Most shelter systems are set up so that you can't keep a family together. A mother and child must get into one shelter and the father must get into another shelter. That's one reason that living in a car may seem like a more viable option to families.

Your post disputes itself by being limited to NYC alone.

so you're saying other major city doesn't share similar issue? not one of them?

a child? good lord! why isn't that child placed in the system?

Quite true, sallylou. And, if it is a woman's shelter, she cannot have a male child over the age of 12 with her.

Very, very few services are available to assist the homeless family, and families are the fasted growing segment of the homeless population.

No. Why would a child be placed in a system when the child is not being abused. Being poor is not a crime. I can't believe that you would even consider taking a child away from a homeless mother.

I am saying that you cannot generalize research done in one city, using that city's population and resources to any other city. Research 101.
