Happy Meal Banned

Growing up McDonald's was a weekly thing at least up until I was aged 11 or 12 then after that my brother and I just got to where we didn't much like McDonald's anymore then we started eating at places like Cracker Barrel, Subway, Mom and Pop Diners, etc. I guess our tastes just 'grew up' so to speak. However I still occasionally like to have the nice home-grilled hamburger with home made french fries and a coke. However tonight my daughter and I are going to enjoy a meal at Western Sizzilin' with some friends of mine from work as we are celebrating one person's retirement. Maddie's 7 and she enjoys it. Hopefully I am instilling good eating habits in her at a young age.

I'm very picky about how I have my burgers done and many fast food places won't do them exactly the way I like to do them.

Once in a blue moon, I'll make myself a med. rare burger with extra sharp cheddar cheese and bacon with hickory BBQ sauce and eat that. It will cause heartburn and even a bad case of the runs of I eat dishes like this very often though.

More often I'll just have med rare burgers with sesame seed buns (I require that!) and A1 sauce or with blue cheese or gorzona cheese and toasted English muffins used as buns.

As much as I like to go out to eat, restruant food is often larger than they need to be and high in sodium and fat so I do a lot of home cooking as a result.

Will this extend to all things that are enhanced by toys, Kinder surprise comes to mind.

OK. Let me think straight... Happy Meal ban passed: San Francisco says no to toys. Yet you can buy medical marijuana. No problem in there! :hmm: Hmm... Right? Right?? :hmm:

Heh. :D OK, I'm just being silly. :)

Nah. You bring up a valid thought exercise there except for medical marijuana watch for the day when they make marijuana legal for recreational smoking. But no Happy Meal toy for you.

Weird people.

You know, potheads love McDonald's, Wendy's and 711.

I had family in Alief so I remember it fondly. Unfortuntately, urban decay has taken its toll. The boardwalk is in Kemah. It's a big old tourist trap now. Good restaurants and a Rocky Mountain Chocolate shop though so it's all good.

How was Texas Tech? It's one of the colleges that we're considering for my kid. The only thing that I don't like is the great distance.

When ya'll take a kid to the park, bring some wipes. The swings and slides are always infected with ecoli and other fun stuff. Let's face it, kids are little germ miesters.

I think that ban on toys to include in Happy Meal is ridiculous because many kids don't go to McDonald's everyday and I had ate Happy Meal when I was little boy in late 1980's to late 1990's so I don't have obesity issue until around 2008.

The calorie for Happy Meal should be around 500, not bad for kids, long as they are less than 2,000 daily calorie intake, also fats are fast burn in kids too.

I was only there one year. I loved it though. My nephews started this year. They are pretty happy there as well.

I remember Kemah.....We used to go there to buy shrimp off the boats....I was little last time I was there though.

Alief was strange.... It was a Black vs Vietnamese turf war there the whole time I was growing up. We whites tried to stay low. Most of the street signs were in Vietnamese too.

Simple. Sell the Happy Meals without the toys. And McDonald's can ask them, "Do want a toy to go with that for .10 cents more?"

Voila.

Eerie! How correct I was. I'll give McDonald's the kudos for having this gumption and playing it smart. Not only that, they make more money doing it this way, too.

It turns out San Francisco has not entirely vanquished the Happy Meal as we know it. Come Dec. 1, you can still buy the Happy Meal. But it doesn't come with a toy. For that, you'll have to pay an extra 10 cents.

Another step forward towards socialism, government control and a nannie state! This is America, home of the free, land of the brave. Let parents make the choice! It's their job! Government, stay out of my life!

Organic food aren't known for their cheap way of growing in the agribusiness.

Now, is cheese a junk food? What about chicken? Ground beef? Tomatoes? Bread? Onions?

If it's a McDonald meal, yeah, it's junk. You really think it's all healthy and nutritious?
