Happy Halloween!

I saw a school bus pass my house at 4:30 p.m., so you know those kids aren't ready for Trick or Treat until after 5 p.m. It's almost 5:30 now, and there are no kids on the street yet.

I saw a few about 20 minutes ago. Dunno how they're gonna have fun with how bad it is out there. Those winds are very powerful, and I wouldn't want to be trick-or-treating in 50+ MPH winds. The bad news is, this is supposed to continue until 4 AM tomorrow. :(

Oh, that is rough. :(

No time limits or restrictions have ever been placed here. We usually get a lot of kids, over 100. People drive there kids into our neighborhood because there are only two exit streets. Really safe neighborhood etc. BUT....looks like we might actually get rain tonight which has never happened in as long as I can remember. Interesting to see how many kids we do get.

If it's a slow night, I just give a bunch of candy out to the kids. We turn off our light around 8:30pm. Any candy left after that, I make my husband take to work.

Yes, and add the fact that we never made it to 40 today, and tonight's temps are supposed to reach freezing, not sure how they can enjoy it.

Looks like I brought my California weather while I was there in Chicago:giggle:

After I left, the temps turned frigid.

Til 5:00??? how is that even remotely okay, since most parents don't get home til after 5??

When I was a kid, the early evening was when the toddlers went trick or treating and around sun-down was when everyone else started. It gave us time to eat dinner and get our costumes ready...poor kids these days...

The kids in my city go until 5:30 PM , that really stink for the older kids. I agree the kids today re getting rid off of their Halloween fun.

They haven't even started here yet (6:05 p.m.).

It most certainly did. Thank goodness I'm not riding my bike in Palatine tomorrow. Pretty sure I would've become a human icicle by the time I got to Harper College. I'd rather pay $10 for a taxi ride from the Metra to there and back. That way I DON'T become said icicle.

We've got 120 bags of candy ready, so I hope they all show up!

I hope I have enough candy. I've been raiding one of the 2 big bags of candy I bought last weekend all week. :o

Not too many kids yet. :(

I ran out into the street and gave some candy bags to teen boys skateboarding by.

120 bags??? Your neighborhood kids are lucky !!!! We've only had 4 kids so far. Seems to get fewer and fewer every year here.

Kids aren't allowed to come to my condo , don't ask why , b/c I have no idea myself. Some old farts made up the rules.

I read somewhere that kids over 12 could not go trick or treating in certain areas. I like when the "older" kids come by all decked out in very thoughtful costumes. All the kids that come by here are always super polite.

I definitely will be giving out HUGE handfuls of treats. Don't want to start gaining my holiday five this soon.:giggle:

That's pretty great. Too many people discourage the teens and think they are too old.

that's a good idea, gotta get rid of that candy somehow.
We got rid of some more. TCS got on his trike with all the colored lights flashing, and took a basket of candy bags down to the larger group of skateboarders down around the curve. :)

We finally got a surge of kids from about 7:30 to 8:30.

I don't mind the "older" kids as long as they make some effort for costumes or accompany younger siblings.
