I've lived in cities from coast to coast over six decades, and I've never lived somewhere that set times and/or dates for Halloween. There were suggested times but nothing official. Halloween fell on Oct. 31, and that was that.My city set the time kids can go out trick or treating , do other cities and town do the same? I think it stink that my city does this, when I was kid we did not have a curfew set by my town. Kids are really losing their freedom today by Big Brother.
What's next? Change the dates of Christmas, New Year's Eve, Fourth of July?My city also will pick the day kids can go trick-or-treating. If Halloween fall on a Friday or weekend my city will move the day to a week day. A lot of cities are starting to pick the day and time and I personally do not like the city or town telling people what day and time their kids can go out! This is like a police state and the city is saying we know what is best for your kids.
People do not see that they're losing their freedom . I feel people should go ahead and have Halloween on Oct 31 , it's would be impossible arrest a whole town or city .

Times are different, I guess. When I was kid people would invite us into their houses for cider or hot cocoa, and it was no big deal to get popcorn balls, apples, and homemade goodies as part of your loot.
We've got 120 bags of candy ready, so I hope they all show up!

TCS does.Oh my, you do get lots of trick or treaters! None in my neighborhood, no children at all, I think there may be some teens. It's also very rural.
Do you eat the leftovers if any?
You're kidding! Some kids are barely home from school by 4 p.m. Most of the kids here don't even start until after 5 p.m. Do they run from house to house? My city has set a time limit of trick or treating for tonight , it till 400 - 5:30 PM . I think that stink , we went out later than that as kids we left our house after 5:00 PM b/c people worked till 5:00 PM . The stores are giving out candy to night too .

I know--how will there even be anyone home to answer the door for the kids at that time?Til 5:00??? how is that even remotely okay, since most parents don't get home til after 5?? ...

I saw a school bus pass my house at 4:30 p.m., so you know those kids aren't ready for Trick or Treat until after 5 p.m. It's almost 5:30 now, and there are no kids on the street yet.I think people throw the candy at the kids as they run pass the houses .
LOL ! I know kids play spots after school or do other actives. I agree with you this is a joke, . I really feel bad for kids , they're missing being kids on Halloween. The whole things it about going out at night when it's dark out and seeing all the spooky houses lite up . People are being way too over protective about this .
