When you skate, don't look at your feet--look out ahead of you, at a distance.

Same here.

Want skateboard in Colorado or Utah?

I tried skateboarding in my teens. Iddidn't like it but I loved rollerblading. I rollerbladed from the parking lot to my classes while a student at Arizona State. Good times!

Shel....my hubby use to be a ski instructor during winters when he was young. I have never tried snow skiing. I water ski though. He takes the girls up snowboarding and they have a blast. I think you would be great at snowboarding because you stay in such good physical shape.

With my disability cold weather is extremely painful. I wish I could try it though. You definitely should try snowboarding with your son. You can buy a pretty decent snowboard for fairly cheap. Maybe even try Craigslist.

I do recommend a helmet.

GO FOR IT!!!!

Really? A ski instructor? That must have been fun! I started waterskiing when I was 5 years old and grew up with it. Hopefully those skills will carry over to snow skiing!

When I was a kid, I roller skated and ice skated. I had perpetually skinned knees and scabs on them.

I used to skateboard as a young teen. Skateboards in my day were more basic than what they are now.

The ones now have lasers and tasers soured up on them
Wicked

He can't mix alcohol with his meds.

Correct, I can't. I not only take Keppra, but I also take Carbamazepine and risperidone, and the last one is the one I'm not supposed to be taking alcohol with-- it's a big no-no.

Roller skating and inline skating are not same.

Inline skating
Inline_skate_wheels.jpg

I really inline skating a lot and I don't need stop bump on it, so I can stop myself with wheel only.

we call it rollerblade. I love it. I carry it around in my trunk all the time except during winter.... but during winter... it's ice skates instead

I am about to try skiing and snowboarding for the first time in my life. All this snow and the Olympics is making my desire stronger than before. Of course I will hurt and get blisters. Lol

wwwwwhhhhhhaaaaaaattttttt? my recommendations -

skiing - wear helmet
snowboarding - wear helmet + wrist guards + hip pads

You use stop bump or without stop bump?

never used stop bump. long time ago when I bought a pair of rollerblades, I took it out. I'm at expert level... maybe enough to do slalom but will give it a try at Central Park in summer.

I used when I was very young - late 90s but not anymore.

I skated on asphalt road without stop bump and felt very funny, but lucky, I didn't fell down.

I love rollerblading very much. I live, breathe, sleep rollerblade. been doing it for probably over 20 years. I can do powerslide, powerstop, backward, etc. I play inline hockey too. I know everything inside out such as parts, upgrades, etc. I take my ABS apart to grease it... rotate my wheels at specific sets... that's just how much I love rollerblading :D

Of course, I will use protective gear but I am not young. I will end up with very very sore muscles.
