Great Lakes nearly fully frozen solid

If you mean I needed to see a foot doctor to treat the severity of my injury, I believe I did. That could be where I was told that. I last ice skated more than 10 years ago, so I don't remember everything now, but if I ever do go back, good protection is a must.
No, I don't think you need a foot doctor to show you the proper way to select skates and socks, and how to wear them.

Or leather winter hats and coats, both of which I happen to have. As for gloves, mine are made of cotton and some kind of fine faux fur, but I never did find out what caused the injury.
OK, so you are not allergic to leather. Hallelujah! You can wear chaps!

Nope, I don't, cause I ain't trying again. That one time was good enough. I'll stick with what I CAN do best, and that would be riding a bicycle.

Might as well...

I bet you wrote "Mark" on your desk note.

That's too bad. It's good to stretch yourself thru acquiring new skills and taking on new challenges.

Anything but those.

You need to try inline skate on hardwood floor and wear thick sock or band that cover the ankle, so just practice until you get correctly.

Have experience from inline skate on hardwood floor is just same as you skating on ice.

Big difference - ice skating has no wheel and it use metal blade.

I'd much rather get back to what I used to do, which was swinging a baseball bat, and sending balls flying. There's a batting cage not far from my home, and I'm yearning to start swinging a bat again. Been nearly 10 years since the last time I swung one.

Something else I've been yearning to do-- get back to roller skating. Those were fun times.

Roller skating and inline skating are not same.

I really inline skating a lot and I don't need stop bump on it, so I can stop myself with wheel only.

Inline skating isn't for me. I like the ones with the 1970's style skates. Last time I put on a pair of those, it didn't end very well, and I nearly knocked myself out going into a stop sign and nearly taking that out. I tried those kinds of skates on my block, and it took me 2 HOURS to get from one end of the block to my home..... NEVER AGAIN.

Inline skating is great practice before prepare for ice skating.

I am about to try skiing and snowboarding for the first time in my life. All this snow and the Olympics is making my desire stronger than before. Of course I will hurt and get blisters. Lol

Want skateboard in Colorado or Utah?

Yes, I know. Problem is, I have no confidence on anything with blades or 4 wheels in a row. Both kinds of skates shook my trust up pretty good, and I have no desire to try them again. However, I wouldn't mind somehow reliving my childhood with a pair of roller skates, and zooming around.

It seems like every time something goes wrong you give up. :(

That's very common for wearing the rented any forms of shoes that causes blister because feet does not break in.

I often got blister from rollerskates. I prefer roller blading over roller skates. anyway.

Posture may have been a culprit. Even properly fitting skates can irritate your feet if you are leaning to far forward to balance as beginners or those unsure on their feet often do. This bends the leather at the ankle rubbing it and presses too tight at the top of the skate. Ask for plastic skates to lessen the blisters.
Gross as it is socks aren't a must in every case. There are serious figure and hockey skaters who do go barefoot for better feel of the ice. They have perfect fitting skates and posture tho - and loooooots of replacement insoles! Please, don't try at home! :giggle:
