GPS/ GOOGLE MAPS on any devices..

how is about Garmin nuvi 660 ? my wife has it for her interpreter jobs. she loves it very much. it talks to u whenever there is bad traffic on roads and it can assist you to detour yourself. i know two other interpreters in atlanta have same type as my wife has. it is not cheap but it is worth to have it for the jobs. it costed 700 bucks from online shop includes 4 yrs warranty. it is the best investment in my opinion.
Wow, that is expensive! It will take me a few years to save up that much money. :P

I also would like to be sure that it will show all the new streets in my area. I still have doubts about that. Is there some way I can check that before buying one? That is, can I try to search for an address on a Garmin at the store to see if it really works? I would hate to spend all that money and then find out that it still doesn't show all the streets.

For example, there is one neighborhood in the next town where I go about once a week, at night. I get lost there every time and end up driving in circles. I can't find it on any on-line or printed maps. The maps show the highway close to it but none of the neighborhood streets. The neighborhood has been there about one year.

I think that most latest GPS has PC connection support, that allow you to update the firmwire to expands more roads when latest development are coming.
TomTom - Navigator PDA Navigation System - 1H50.082
Do you know if Tom Tom lets a customer try one first before buying? I want to be sure that I can really access all the new streets in my area. I don't want to invest a lot of money and then find out that it still doesn't show all the streets.

I think so but you have ask employee at Best Buy, also they are supposed to know, if not then no excuse for them to took alot of training.

If it does allow to get full refund then you have 14 days or 30 days to try it, if not satisfy then return to get full refund, also you need have own PDA to install.

Other separated GPS from PDA would cost around more than $400, also offers firmwire update to add more latest maps and even routes.

For me, I never own but I did researched.

Btw, 14 days return to get full refund is accepted for separated GPS system, not supported from PDA.

I would do the same if I were to play with GPS. Some stores have live GPS for customer to play with. Problem is that it's at one location, So It's good idea to find out if it's refundable then you can purchase it and try it. Dont like it then send it back for refund. You will need to find out which OS on GPS are reliable and ease to use.. Some use Windows OS and some use Linux OS and some use other OS. Few GPS let you find restaruants and many other places you like to go to. It requires updating by using PC's USB and internet connection to download updates. Most expensive GPS require Cellular connection for internet and data connection even allow you to check Email LOL (It have between 7 to 10 inches screen and have OnScreen keyboard if needed).

GPS would be great idea if you are on a boat in big lake like Lake of the Ozark (in Mid Missouri) ect.. Big Lakes and Ocean easily make you lost. You'll have to find landmark spot that you can follow map. GPS is very convenice.

BTW, Garmin Headquarter is located in Olathe, KS. It's not far where I live. I've driven past by Garmin several times. It's on 151st St. Nice big building LOL. IF I had garmin GPS and had plm with it. I could bring it over to Headquarter instead of mailing it LOL.

I am surprised that the white house is censored. I remembered that the paint was not covered last year. Wow! (We should censor our home in the picture, too.)

No, I did not give a try BB maps, but my wonderful friend like brother, he did try a bb maps on his wife's bb. result, he and his wife warned me, dont download it. because they dislike it either. I gave them yahoo map link for their a try after i told them that I use yahoo maps. they love yahoo maps. I did try google maps. google maps blew yahoo maps / bb maps out of the water! tell you the truth! no bogus.. ;)
I hate using a screwdriver to push a nail into wood.

Think about this:
Google Maps is a screwdrier
BlackBerry Maps is a hammer

They are totally different.
People who want a screwdriver hate using a hammer to insert a screw.
People who want a hammer hate using a screwdriver to drive a nail.

Google Maps don't have automatic GPS navigation
BlackBerry Maps has automatic GPS navigation "TURN LEFT AT MAIN STREET"

BlackBerry Curve 8300 and 8310 has built-in GPS
Google Maps is easier to use, better graphics
BUT BlackBerry Maps has more automatic GPS navigation!!

Your own pocket GPS navigation system...
And you can select "Get Map" from your BlackBerry Addressbook - no need to type an address if address is already in your addressbook!
Can you do this with Google Maps? NO!!!!
Google Maps can do GPS on a BlackBerry, but it doesn't automatically announce intersections and street names onscreen like BlackBerry Maps!

MORAL OF STORY: Don't harshly JUDGE BlackBerry Maps - it's NOT the same thing!

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: Have both Google Maps and BlackBerry Maps installed at the same time. You can choose one or the other -- have both a hammer and a screwdriver in your tool belt!!!
