A lot of old problems are from 80's, 90's or 2000's so Gallaudet University has changed a lot to correct the flaws in education and administration.

I attended at Gallaudet University last year and didn't have some problems that Steinhauer experienced.

i am under the impression that you think gallaudet have lots of issues that need to be corrected without telling us what was your thought. So i said, it does not matter because gallaudet knows that lots of people have eyes on gallaudet. like two times murders that did happen at gallaudet, politicial issues and many interest that are conflicted. Gallaudet survives with Deaf, hoh, oral deaf and ci users' help.

The old problems that I know from former Gally students who went in 80's, 90's and 2000's, are corrected, such as new company for cafeteria to make major improvement to food, introduced the new GSR (General Studies Requirement) to replace the flawed general education, improvement in First Year Seminar to reduce the massive freshmen withdrew that has been issue for many years, all professors required to be proficient in ASL before they could teach in the classes, mandatory Jumpstart program with Academic Success for students with low SAT/ACT score, low GPA or believe that need more support, replaced the old 3 strike policy with point system to make fair, increased the penalty for pull the fire alarm by prank and mandatory internship program that help students to find a job after graduation.

Recently, they renovated many dorms to make beautiful and modern.

Not really, without federal funding, Gallaudet University will not survive because it is very expensive to run university that designed for students with hearing loss and proficient in ASL, also their tuition cost isn't cheaper than UAB and UA.

The congress created Gallaudet University and they are private university because of students with hearing loss, so they do welcome some hearing students, especially focus on ASL.

True. I understand that gallaudet's academics system continue to work on, and need the funds and financial aids. I rhink nowaday gallaudet is much better than my time a few years ago. So we do need federal fund, and many finanical aids for Deaf, hoh, oral deaf and ci users' future.

That's not my suggestion so it is serious matter.

The VR in many states will not pay to send their deaf students to Gallaudet University if they are furiously expensive, so that why Gallaudet University got support from federal funding to offset the tuition cost.

It would appear so. Of course Financial aid and money budgeted for the school itself are 2 different things.

I am not sure that making dorms "beautiful and modern" is a concern or responsibility of taxpayers. I am sure it is nice for students though.
