frustrated!!!!

Actually, in the eyes of a college or university, an "incomplete" is seen as a more respectable grade vs. an "F" because it doesn't negatively affect your cumulative GPA.

Teachers will NOT give you INC if you "didn't do crap, just sat there and scratch your sweaty balls" lmao. Teachers will just give you F period. The only way you can get INC if you are able to get on teachers' good grace that you find yourself in a situation that make you could not complete the course.

That's right.

Teachers are not the ones that decide whether you get an incomplete in a medical situation you'd have to go to the head of the dept or chairperson or i can go to the ombudsperson. I'd rather have an incomplete than a Fail

Actually, I didn't have to go to the head of the department or chairperson or the ombudsperson to get an INC. I just simply had a meeting with my professors and explained the situation and why I was unable to complete the work.

I don't like confrontation and most of my teachers find me a nuisance since im deaf/hoh and they aren't very nice about it either. After coming back from being sick my teacher was like " oh glad u can join us..havent seen u since september" and it wasn't jokingly either. So I'd rather just skip them altogether if i can cuz i just don't like talking to them they are always VERY condescending

It wasn't as if you got sick on purpose. Geez.

I know and since I have pretty bad asthma it was worse...plus i've been sort of depressed for awhile so that doesn't help matters... :(

AliciaM,

I'm sorry about what happens to you. I suggest you go see a counseling. Hang in there.

Let me give you my hugs

I already did a couple times in the summer..but i have removed the problem..it being my bf..he's going to rehab finally..i knew for a fact he wouldnt go because of me and stuff butnow he is cuz he knows he's lost something really important in his life:me..His parents tellme all the time im the best thing that has ever happened to him..but he needed to see it. so i broke up with him and cut him off so that he would realise he needed help that i couldnt give him since he didn't want to help himself.

OK. Sounds like in your case, it's a better idea to go to the dean or the head of the department or the chairperson or the ombudsman. Go for it. Good luck.

Please go see a counselor. If you don't have health insurance, there are counselors at the student counseling center in most colleges, and I don't think it costs anything.

Some professors can be total assholes.

In my second year in college, I took a Psychology class, and I did not do well. It was too confusing and hard. It was a first year Psychology class, but the stuff were meant for 3rd or 4th year students, and the professor was a TOTAL asshole. He did not give a damn about anyone, and he would lecture throughout the entire 3-hour classes (3 hours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), with no breaks, and there were no visual aids or anything. None. It was ALL verbal, which was very difficult. There were quizzes every week, and they were very difficult, and so many of the questions required answers that were not in the textbook. I studied for hours on end for many weeks, and still flunked. I asked him for help so many times, and he totally refused to help me, and said that I was on my own. Said, "too bad". Was cold. I got a F in that stupid class. Back then, I did not know I could go to the dean and gotten a late withdrawal due to academic difficulties. After that, I made damn sure to tell everyone who was thinking of taking his class, to NOT take his class, as he will not help anyone.

you NEED to address this to him at his office or email. I understand you don't like confrontation so email's the best and easier. believe me - once you addressed this to him... it feels good. I've been there. If he did not apologize, forward the email or report it to his Dean. simple as that.

good luck!

yes absolutely. Everybody including prospective employers knows things happen - medical illness, sudden family death or whatsoever, personal problem, etc.... Incomplete or Withdrawal is ALWAYS better than F.

Professor is the one who has power to give you a grade - an INCOMPLETE or anything. All gradings are up to professors, not Dean or anybody else. Not even the University President has any power in grading.

I understand about your situation - your bf with his drug issue and medical illness.. But I have to tell you this - I think you need to sit down and think seriously if you should continue your college education or not. It sounds like you are not ready in your life to do college because it sounds like you've got some personal businesses to take care. College is expensive and time-consuming. Repeating a course is nothing but a waste of time and money. You need to be absolutely sure with yourself that you can dedicate only 3 months of your time to college. Time goes by FAST and it's absolutely important that you reserve that amount of time for yourself with a minimal amount of personal interference.

I had a lot of personal issues to deal with so I took a bit over a year off and when I come back... it was great. consistent A's and B's each semester instead of rocky, fluctuating grades like before.

again... good luck, AliciaM!!! :cool2:

Yeah, I did not finish college. I was in my third year of college when personal problems got in the way of school and a lot of other things, so I took a break from college, and I still haven't gone back because now I am having health problems that needs to be taken care of first. Hopefully, I can get my health problems taken care of by August so I can enroll at SAC (San Antonio College) this upcoming fall and finish the remaining two years and be done!

SAC is a community college.

lucia,

what would your major be in? i noticed the tag underneath your username says "amateur psychiatrist." would you major in psychology?

SAC is a community college.

I know. I'm just majoring in Graphic Design and I want to go to SAC cause I don't want to do all the stupid elective classes like they make you take at an university. I think electives are a waste of time as they have nothing to do with my major. Also, I can't walk across a large university campus anymore. I have hip dysplasia and can't walk far anymore.

My previous college was at Saint Cloud State University in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. I miss SCSU, but the course load was overwhelming, and there are too many electives to take.
