Florida couple convicted of having sex on beach

I was thinking the same thing RR. The sentence is a MAX of 15 years- it doesn't necessarily mean that they will actually get the full 15 years especially if one of the pair is a first time offender.

No one stated they will get the MAx. That said it is the max. Whats the point of even having a max of 15 years for shagging on a beach if no one will ever get it.
Its so silly.
anyway...

repeated offender. or just a number that some silly legislator came up with because these kind of laws require to have minimum and/or maximum penalty.

Oh im sure its just a number the legislsture csme up with. but even in this thread some feel 25 years isnt eveN enough
Lol

Community Service?...there were kids on that beach....and they got an eye full of this couple...would I want my children seeing something like this?...right in public? ...No Way!....Don't feel adults would want to see this either.....

I saw a picture of both of them and I wouldn't want a visual of that either, they're not the most attractive couple. What they did was completely intensive to families and children in view of them. They should spend a year in jail and do community service....and pay a fine. Clearly they think a lot of themselves and not much of others.

15 years for stupid mistake! Wow!

Just don't see how it's a "mistake"....both are adults and knew what they were doing, but probably not knowing the reprecussions of it on a public beach ??...That's being an idiot too....:giggle:...Maybe alcohol or drugs were involved, as people do crazy things when they are intoxicated or high....

Let them clean up the beach each weekend for a couple years and each day give a speech as to why they are cleaning the beach to that days visitors while wearing a Dunce Cap, that should be enough.

Interesting

See your thinking. but this isnt about actually thinking.
No.
They must be punished!!!! Punished!!!!!! Punished!!!!!!
And no bill is too high for the tax payer to teach these evil doer monsters a lesson!!!
Prison.over 400 dolors a day it costs...no worries.
The prison Industrial complex will always have a place for you, as violennt offenders are released....
Yeah..
too bad thinking like yours isnt common. Silly plms. Like this could be handled. Ah well.

That's not what she was saying.

Yes adult can make mistakes but I hardly think that 'the desire' to boink is a mistake- they knew what they were doing. Their mistake was WHERE they did the boinking... but then again makes me wonder too if that wasn't a mistake either.

Interesting point about drugs or alcohol being involved RR. Drunken sex on the beach... yep.

Just one, http://www.alldeaf.com/showpost.php?p=2414410&postcount=11

I doubt that they will get the max sentence anyway.

Oh, did you read the link I posted regarding Calif law? Do you think it's reasonable enough?

I believe. Jail or prison should only be used for violent offenders.
Which is a small small fraction of those currently incarcerated.
But prison is big bussiness. Expect more to be built and more.to be sent up. Its about loot. Not protecting you or anyone.
Most sent up are non violent of course.

She said clearly she didnt think it was a mistske and both were adults.
I know what she meant. but her words said what they said.
Ive had drugged and drunken sex on beaches before candyflipping beach sex is stupendous.. Thats what night time is for...
Regrdless.
jail or prison for these clear evil doer monsters they are is
Nuts.
Pun intended

No. "Many were banned" was used in that tense because it was a ban that took place at the time of the action, but it doesn't mean the ban is no longer in effect.

Think about here at AD: when we refer to an AD member being banned, we can say "Alleycat is banned" or "Alleycat was banned" -- the use of either "is" or "was" is correct (however, "is" would not be if the ban is no longer in effect,) but the "was" or "were" just refers to the actual act of the ban being implemented, which is now in the past, not that it's un-banned now.
It is banned = it's banned since the effective date. It was banned = it was banned until it's no longer banned.

You read any laws saying "were" or "was"?

You have to remember that the criminal justice system is not about thinking and common sense, because they are not good at either one of them. I've come to the conclusion that if someone going into the CJ system is asked if they have common sense and their answer is yes, they don't get the job. Sadly the ones that need it the most, the police, are the ones who seem to have the least of it.

In colonial times it was all about humiliating the person and getting them to not do what they did again, think pillories, stocks, whipping post. If they made non violent offenders do community service and humiliate them at the same time with having them give speeches about what they did wrong before they start doing the community service each time, they might not do it again.

Is this a bad time to make a joke about crabs? STDs or otherwise?

Wow, the couple couldn't go home and have sex?

I think we can come up with better methods then.colonial humiliation for crimes such as this. We can do better...
