I agree, Miss D. I had bad experience with her in hawaii, and thought it was just an off day for her... what happened was that she threw a nasty tantrum in front of me and my dad when my dad was pulling me out of that school so we would be set for a move to the mainland. Serious biz. It is still hard to talk about, though.

I also have heard it is a recurring pattern with her with other people. I did have benefit of doubt for her. I did try. Maybe she would be great as CEO or something, but I think she has little patience with people.. and does not deal well when things don't go her way.. and in a high visible role of leadership on the community level, that is fatal. It's not about being not deaf enough. That's just BS and misinformation, IMO.

But I really have no problems with people wanting to ask questions about the why's and the how's.. that is fair enough. It's uncool for people to tell other people to shut up.

lol, take care, folks.

Sounds like my ex-boss and none of the employees who worked for her liked her style either. She likes to be in control and be more powerful than her "little people". She thinks she knows everything and have an attitude. Those type of bosses are horrible to work with. It causes more stress on the job. If Jane Fernandes is like that, then good luck to the Gally employees.

Yeah, I had a boss like that. You do not want to work for such people.

I think Jane needs to step down. That is my own opinion, the president for Gally needs to be represents as true deaf not a deaf who has hearing mind! That way, world can see better. Often I see that deafies who can talk so well, gives hearing people false thinking into the fact that ALL deafies CAN learn to talk normal. I have seen enough of this crap, sorry for my pun. BUT, we need to get our facts straight before Deaf can relax and feel comfortable with hearing world.

So u are against me now? cuz I am not Deaf enough for u? I had enough of people who alike u who speak agianst us who are somehow slight different from DEAF world. I think Jane needs to stay in and to break barrier between two worlds, Deaf and deaf worlds and become unity as ONE.

After all the reading Ive done on Gally protests, I get the impression that its about many things and no one unifying reason for the protests. It is confusing information about whats up at Gally.

Gallaudet already have Jordan who became deaf at 20's and he can talk...
That isn't fair to let Gallaudet to have a deaf president who can't talk
and was born deaf...

That way Deaf people can prove to the Hearing world that a Deaf Mute can do anything.... can do anything.

Look at Marlee Matlin, she can talk... that isn't fair.

And that deaf woman who won Miss USA or Miss America, she can talk...

We need give Deaf Mute a chance....

They looked pretty united to me this past Saturday. I think only those who don't understand say things like that.

i wonder if they still have HC ? anyone cares to let us know? hmm ...

Maybe I should leave AllDeaf? I probably would not be considered "deaf enough" to be in AllDeaf - I was born deaf, yes, to hearing parents and we have figured out it is probably hereditary since my first cousin is deaf, also.

I went to an oral school for the deaf, and stayed there for 6 years. Then I was mainstreamed early in my school years, entering 5th grade in a school for hearing people. I did not even learn sign language until I was 28 years old, and even then, I only use PSE when I'm socializing with deaf people. The rest of the time, I'm still an oralist working with hearing people.

So, if Jane isn't deaf enough, then I'm not deaf enough.

I saw the videotape interview by DeafNation, and I saw where she said she didn't feel connected to the deaf community, and I went back to Amy's video - it is very clear that it was cut off right there and then, and that there was more to that than what was shown.

Tsk.

So Jane isn't deaf enough for Gallaudet? Then I'm not deaf enough for AllDeaf.

Everyone, no matter who, always have a list of success AND a list of failures. What is apparent here is a FAILURE to listen to both sides.

Give it up.

Jane hasn't taken the office yet, and will not be the President of Gallaudet University until January 2007, and she will always have my continued support for her.

Give her a chance.

Many of you here, me included, have often asked to be given a chance, to prove ourselves, as deaf people, as workers, as school students, etc., etc. Many times we were given the chance, and don't try to say that you never got a chance. It's not the truth, and you know it.

You got a chance many times life, so let her have her chance to prove to Gallaudet University, to the students, to the world, that she can do it.

Jane isn't deaf enough for Gallaudet? Oh please. IF that's true, then I'm NOT DEAF ENOUGH for AllDeaf.

Jane, you have my support, and I hope you will have a chance to prove yourself.

It's a sad and sorry protest all around. Deaf people will be the losers no matter if they win their way or not, it will just show that mob rule, and not democratic rule can win the day. AS far as I am concerned when the not deaf enough thing came out the rpotest was over, as deaf peoplke who believe in equal access and fair play, we can't support the railroading out of an as yet, Female President who hasn't even started properly yet. I Keep getting visions of the Spanish Inquisition, and Salem, , mutter "SHE CAN SPEAK ? ONLY recently learnt ASL ! we'll try the ducking stool, if she drowns she is innocent, if she doesn't she is guilty and we drown her anyway".

i wonder if they still have HC ? anyone cares to let us know? hmm ...

They already had HC this past weekend and
I was at their homecoming football game
at Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) in Frederick Maryland

Note: I did NOT go to the Protest march due to my lack of
interest in the protest itself, I rather go to the game anyway.

If Jane is not deaf enough for Gallaudet and you are not deaf enough for AllDeaf.com then I am not deaf enough either!

I grew up mainstreamed in an oral program and didnt learn ASL until at the age of 28. Why..cuz my hearing parents made the decision for me but I guess it is too late for me to ever consider running Gallaudet no matter how skilled I am cuz I am not deaf enough. Oh well...

Same goes for me - I didn't learn ASL until I was 22, and was mainstreamed all through school.

DreamDeaf, Not one of major reason, and others are major reason.

Top 10 Reasons Dr. Jane K. Ferandes

1. Ineffectives leadership

2. Even thought good experience on paperwork, no people skills or leadership

3. Poor track record and no credibility as a leader

4. Dr. Ferandes is incompetent. She can't run Gallaudet. She can't listen. I never once heard her admit, she is wrong.

5. Her administration will be crippled.

6. She could not prevent this situation from exacerbating.

7. The same person who fractured the university can't be the one to heal it.

8. She has no people skills and is cold.

9. Jane was pushed thru by Dr. King Jordan to provost and was the beneficiary of King's influence on Bo T.

10. Stop the damage.

Over the past day or two, people have also been saying that the protest is past the point of no return --either after the HMB incidents or after the arrests. Simply because of that, they feel, Jane Ferandes should step down from Gallaudet University.

Yeah

Ricky Taylor isn't deaf enough...
He said he went to the movie theatre and he can hear some sound.
He said that in 1997 in the classroom with me.

See he is a HIPPOCRIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pardon me, but that is a ridiculous statement you've just made. I'm profoundly deaf, and yet I can hear quite a bit so does that make me 'not deaf enough?'
*snorts*

Oh, you can say that again about that kind of power trip! lol Don't get me wrong, I have a healthy regard for authority. Sometimes things just don't make sense and you have to ask questions. I think this is one of those times when the answers aren't good enough, and one just has to do something about it .. of course, peaceful disobedience just happens to be one of them.
