You don't get my point! Im talking about other possible scenarios. I said WHAT IF a storm topped these rocks, will the storm be charged for felony? I don't see how it is possible. We do NOT own these rocks, Government do NOT own these rock. It is NATURE that OWNS the rocks, why Nature didn't do a thing about it?

Other case, If these two guys done that 200 years ago, will it matter? Will these two guys be prosecuted? I don't think so!

It isn't about storm. This article is about two idiots vandalized the state park.

FYI, I'm extremely detest anyone who vandalize the national or state parks.

The government is charged to protect the nature of state parks and it is crime offense to vandalize the park, so law is law.

This article isn't about storm, period and any humans who vandalize the park is crime offense.

it looks like you didn't watch a video about two idiots messed up the rock and it angered a lot of Utahans, so that's not going be well for two idiots.

Are you sure that they are really jerks? Or those who dragging them really is a jerk too?

Hoichi has been sitting next to bunch of crooks for too long, I bet my ass he has heard bunch of stories that we law abiding citizens have NOT heard. And I am sure that he (Hoichi) have heard stories that were just full of BS or lame.
As I stated, they weren't gentlemen, and they acted like jerks. That has nothing to do with hoichi sitting next to crooks.

right, and acting lik jerks is a crime now?
been awhile since i've been stateside

from the video, i don't see two men acting like jerks. the toppled some rocks.

really
the horror!

Me neither, I don't see point of why charging them. There are others doing the same thing and nothing is done but just that two guys. I bet my ass somebody topping the rock isn't the first one, nor even last one. There are millions of others that have done destruct the nature in many ways. Like cutting down trees, it is destruction too, right? Yes, in state park, I have seen trees cut down, rocks moved altered by man, and so on. Perfect example, government HAD destroyed the rocks on American side of Niagara fall in 1969, it is forever screwed up. Nothing is done about it, and at same time government made huge deal over this two little guys in Utah.

Please pay attention.

I never said that acting like jerks is a crime. I was referring specifically to calling them gentlemen.

In my opinion, two grown men filming their destructive vandalism and signing and laughing about it is immature and jerky. They were supposed to be "leaders" for the Scout group, and they were far from that. I didn't see anything gentlemanly about their behavior.

Niagara fall on American side after Americans decided try to alter the American side of the fall.. Photo shows after the alternation.

Millions of rocks forever damaged… By who? Its government after all.

I don't see these guys being "idiots"...nor "gentlemen"...they were Boy Scout Leaders and grown men....isn't that right?...One had an "disabling injury" to his back...but was able to push that rock off....??..and laugh about it....Both from Utah....and knowing the State's rules and regulations in a State Park...Boy Scout Leaders..I've never been to Utah...but if their ancient rocks mean a lot to them, then that's fine to me.

These guys knew what they were doing was wrong. And a Federal or State offense...perhaps they snubbed their noses at it....Give them a big, hefty fine...a slap on the hand.. and the judge saying..."naughty little boys"!

Is felony a justificable charges?

That's up to the State of Utah....feel sure there were signs posted saying it was a Federal....-...or..State offense....and feel sure enuf these men could read...All States have their Laws...you can either adhere...or suffer the consequences if you're caught.

One more generic comment on this case; there are likely hundreds of people incarcerated in Colorado for marijuana possession. Some of the convictions might be felonies. Now that they have legalized marijuana, are they getting released? If so, I missed it.

The "rock starters" in this case are being charged with crimes under the current laws. If they decriminalize "rock starting," I would have no issue with a much reduced penalty. Also, I doubt these guys will see the inside of a penitentiary. They will plead down to some misdemeanor charges, get a fine and community service, and walk free.

Who would have thought that rocks would become as controversial as abortion, religion, CI's in children, and politics! :hmm:
I think some of us are looking to debate something new.

  • Politics - banned
  • Religion - banned
  • Abortion - been debated for decades
  • CI's in children - most supporters banned

According to the guidelines of the park brochure:

"All plants, animals, minerals and other natural features in state parks are protected. It is unlawful to remove, alter or destroy them."

Group leaders should definitely know all the park rules, especially since they are responsible for passing on that information to their Scouts.

That's correct and being ignorance is not defensive.

Unlawful? Supposed a earthquake strikes, is nature breaking the man's law? Sometimes the man's law can be wrong or unjustifiable. You see, government broke their own laws too. American justice is broken. PERIOD.
